Description

iTiwit produced this board for Decathlon and for beginners who want a basic board to get them going. It’s a great beginner touring board that will easily cope with half-day trips and is even big enough to accommodate 2 people! There was only ONE style of hardboard to choose from and it was barely 24″ to 26″ wide. I’m 6’2″ tall and weigh 245 lbs. After the 5th time falling off I ended up kneeling & paddling for the next 4 hours, which left me with terrible cramps in my legs and bruised knee caps. A good performing, well-built, lightweight & ultra compact SUP. Great for travel and hiking, and everyday paddling

Cruising next onto the list is the Atoll 11’. At 21 lbs, it’s a zippy board on the water, and is a great option for someone looking for a solid all around board that is ultra light but still stable. Even when I have one of my kids on board (at a combined weight of around 300lbs), it doesn’t affect the performance. The Atoll 11 feels sturdy; it doesn’t sag in the middle, even when the weight capacity is being tested! Pin Finally, if you are a taller, more heavy SUPer then you are going to be able to maneuver the Thurso Waterwalker 132 much like a 120 pound person will maneuver the NIXY Newport.

What Features Does it Have?

Durability. The last thing we want is for you to be dragging your deflating board behind you, paddle sunk to the bottom of the lake. So which is better? It kind of depends on who you talk to. Each manufacturer claims their process is the best and most durable(of course). From our testing the last several years we have yet to see a problem with either process and can fully recommend both. Fusion tends to be lighter, but if this isn’t a priority, then either construction method will suit your needs. The glide in the water is good and turning is simpler with the shorter body shape. Weight-bearing is not an issue as it can take up to 120Kg.

FunWater 11 Review | Tested by GearLab FunWater 11 Review | Tested by GearLab

Stable enough for beginners: The broad tail and 33-inch base make the Cruiser Ultra a very stable board. It’s ideal for beginners, families, and paddlers who prioritize stability over speed.

The Cruise Carbon 12 is a long board, at 12 feet (as the name suggests), and the extra foot in length is definitely noticeable – the board glides much easier than, for instance, the Atoll. Premium price: It’s one of the more costly paddle boards out there, but this is definitely reflected in the quality.

It’s versatile: The Gili Komodo is a true all-around inflatable paddle board. It’s stable enough for beginners, for yoga, and a fun day out with the kids. You can use it for SUP fishing, casual touring, and camping – the multiple attachment points allow you to attach all the gear you want to configure the SUP to your liking – and even attach a kayak seat using the extra D ringsHope some of that helps! Thanks for prompting us on another board to add to the list to review. Feel free to suggest boards to review anytime 🙂 Reply Stability. From beginners to intermediate/advanced paddlers you want to make sure the board will support its weight limit. Nothing is worse than buying a 300lb capacity board, only to find it extremely difficult to balance on if you are 220 lbs (this is what happens when you buy a cheap board from a store like Costco). We found great performance with each paddle board on this list (we don’t just put up any board on this list). Each board performs really well, and the differences are slight, but important. It’s also worth noting how lightweight this paddle board is, weighing only 20 pounds – which does mean that it’s somewhat easy to carry even without a handle at the tail, However, I still think this would have been a great addition. Pin People have started to race on inflatables as the technology improves, make great fitness boards also.

The best inflatable paddle boards of 2023, tried and tested

Want a high weight capacity, high performance SUP that is great in all conditions, from the river to the lake. The board itself has a wide design and a stiffness that is designed to increase stability, which beginners will appreciate helping them stay balanced and feel confident. It’s not the fastest board and it might feel slightly more sluggish than other boards of similar length, however the pointed nose helps to make it ideal for cruising in choppy seas and it will even cope with small waves. It has a drop-stitch construction and is made from PVC making it robust and durable. Advanced construction technology: The unique dual inflation chamber technology makes this touring board extremely rigid – plus it’s safer in the event of a puncture! The ISLE Pro series SUP/Kayaks are hands down the best paddle boards that are also easily turned into kayaks. If you are someone who is looking for both a very high quality SUP, but who also would like a high quality recreational kayak, then the Pro series by Isle is your answer (there are 5 different models to choose from). The tropical print design is also an instant win – making the board stand out as being vibrant and attractive, but it’s also built to be durable as well as attractive. It’s tapered shape makes it perfect for shorter paddlers, while the dual-layer PVC construction and carbon rails make it remarkably stiff. As far as materials go, NIXY has created a super light board due to their dual layer FUSIONtec technology. At just 20 lbs, the Newport is always one of the lightest boards on our top SUP list, but with the addition of carbon fiber rails you don’t sacrifice the strength or durability of the board. Stability: The Nixy Newport is a very stable board and doesn’t feel tippy when riding. It’s a nice board for beginners and yoga.
