Kordon's Fish Therapy Bath - use of citrus oils (oils include citrus, neem, and lavender oils) to treat termites, fleas, etc. Lavender Oil also has repellent abilities. Neem oil is reported to be effective as an insecticide as well as some anti-inflammation properties, anti-fungal and limited anti-bacterial. I didn't make it a long term experiment to find the proper dose.. I just once did try out of curiousity a pinch fluke solve in a glass of water with planaria. It looked like it killed it about instantly.. In comparance in volumes it was rather a huge overdose. I have absolutely no knowledge about it also no idea if overdosing Prazi affects snails etc. The secret ingredient? Fenbendazole. It will eradicate a planaria infestation in just a few days. It’s like a planaria nuke!

Planaria usually kill only weak/small or dying specimens. Keep in mind that this is very easy for the planaria if the shrimp has just molted. Without its shell shrimp is very vulnerable. These fish are great!!! I have a small shoal of 10 or so, they're tiny and perfectly within scale in this small tank. They don't bother the shrimp at all and, after watching what / how they eat, I think even juvenile shrimp will be too small to fit in their mouths. They can just about eat one or two tiny grains of the Dr Bassleer Biofish-Food I give them (0.5-0.8mm grain size according to the tub), but sometimes it takes them a couple of goes to swallow them. They much prefer the GlasGarten Baby Shrimp Food "dust" I feed the shrimp. To make things more confusing, some types of planaria can change color according to what they eat. Colored flakes, for instance, can turn a planarian a lovely shade of pink. The first is their angled head. A planarian’s head is arrow-like in shape. The only time it’s not is when it compacts itself for movement.

Remove your chemical filtration Your carbon filter or purigen can remove the Fenbendazole from the water before it has a chance to work its magic – remove it and replace it after treatment is finished.

Clea Helena is known among aquarium enthusiasts as the “Assassin snail”, and is usually kept to prey on other snail species that are considered pests in home aquaria. The names “Assassin snail” and “Snail-eating snail” both refer to this snail’s predatory nature and tendency to consume all sorts of snails. It’s possible that your kuhli loach has just damaged his skin and you’re seeing some localized infection Let's say your aquarium is 100L (when empty) - how much water do you really have when taking into account the above. 70L maybe? Maybe not (might be less or more but it's your responsibility to work this out). If you dose the correct amount it says then you won't have issues. There are lots of other types of fish that will eat snails. I simply do not like going that route because you have to introduce a new fish to your aquarium that you may not want in there. Macrobrachium Shrimp White planaria, on the other hand, eat small worms, shrimp and even live foods such as daphnia or bloodworms. If your tank has an abundance of food for white planaria, you will soon see them multiply in number. Are planaria dangerous?

The mommy endler guppy didn’t make it unfortunately, and now I am left with baby fries with 2 ottocinclus, 1 endler male guppy, 4 ember tetra, and 1 cherry shrimp, and a couple of ramshorn. I don’t wish to move my fry because this tank is cycled since late summer and it is very stable. When it comes to their removal I would always go with creating my own worm trap over using dewormers. The pesky planarian is often confused with another flatworm, rhabdocoela. Rhabdocoela is similar in size and color to white planaria. However, when compared side by side, the differences become clear. Many Macrobrachium shrimp species are eating snails too. Some species of Macrobrachium shrimp (for example, Machrobrachium Lanchesteri (Whisker shrimp)) can be so aggressive that it is not advisable to keep them even with small (slow) fish. Obviously, they are not compatible with dwarf shrimp as well. Death in a few seconds. Once you return them into clear water, some of them come to life in one day!

Panacur-C (fenbendazole) apparently works great from what I have read online, also clearing out any worms from the tank, but it is hard to get in some countries. In fact, you likely won’t notice them at all unless they grow in number or bravely slide their way over your aquarium glass. Dispose of the captured Planaria on the dry ground outdoors where they will likely get eaten by other animals or wither away. Next, do a nice deep clean in your tank. Gravel vacuum if necessary, just be careful not to disrupt the dirt layer below. It’s easier for these worms to get around than most realize. To make matters worse, you might have been the one to introduce them into your tank! Here are a few common ways planarian worms get into tanks and flourish. Parasitic Hitchhiking This is the best way to identify planaria without using a magnifying glass – the arrow like head is visible to the naked eye. I'm very intrigued by these live worm cultures... is it lots of different types of worms? I'll have to PM them this weekend and find out. It v much appeals to me to have lots of weird tiny things adding to the biodiversity of the tank.

This dose had no affect upon my red cherry shrimp, small fish (rasbora) or the many Malaysian trumpet snails in my tank (including 1-2mm babies through to 20mm or so adults). The thing with Panacur C is that it works slowly and at first you’ll still see a lot of Planaria gliding around the tank.Note: Never add water from the bag into the tank. Do acclamation the right way. You can read my article about it here. 1. Quarantine
