Description

The above shots are from the Mju I but it’s really important to note that images can vary a lot based on the type of film used as well as the camera. Olympus Mju II Olympus Mju II Olympus Mju II Josh called the Olympus Trip 35 the quintessential compact camera, and he’s probably right. It’s about the same size as a Contax compact, features battery-free metering and auto-exposure, and exposes film through an incredibly sharp Tessar clone lens. Plenty of point and shoot cameras are small – that’s one of the biggest draws to this type of film camera– but few other models are quite as compact as the Stylus Epic.

The first thing to realize, specifically when discussing the Mju series, is that during the 1980s and 1990s, every Japanese camera company was making an absurd number of virtually identical cameras. The Mju and Mju II are honestly and truly nothing special (if we ignore the fact that some famous photo nerds used or use one).Credits: dannyedwards, area51delcorazon, yokekei, ethermoon, fayeusokoi& tagliatele_la_testa Technical Specifications Things really change when we start talking about AF systems of the Mju series. The Mju I was produced in 1991, still early for AF systems and while it was really really good, it was still just a standard AF system. The Olympus mju (Greek letter μ[mju:], Olympus Stylus in North America) is a series of compact film and digital cameras manufactured by Olympus. If you half press the button and look through the viewfinder then you’ll see a green light if the camera has found focus, the light will be flashing if not or it’ll be orange if it’s low light.

This is our unbiased opinion about this camera – the good, the bad, and the ugly. Here’s what we would’ve liked to know before buying a Mju-II. Size / ErgonomicsThe original XA is a legendary rangefinder designed by a legendary man. I know that point-and-shoot fans would yell at me for including it on the list because its a rangefinder. If you’re among the manual-focus averse (even though at f/8 the XA will allow focus-free shooting that’s faster than autofocus, ladies and germs), there are other options in the XA range. These are the numbered XAs, and they’re some of the best point-and-shoots available.
