I’m in Germany and fell in love with ginger beer so I am thrilled to find your recipe and suggestions for when I get home. Where do I even start… there are not enough words to thank you for the amazing cake you made for our wedding! I find that I use less of the concentrate then with soda water… and since I’m making a batch every few days, the longer it lasts, the better; and finally, I don’t peel the ginger, just wash it thoroughly with a scrub brush. As the liquid passes through the palate, the ginger will fill the whole mouth, leaving a warmth at the back of the throat. Zingi Bear is doing just that with their drinks, that’s why we have supported them since the very beginning, and why they continue to sell well across our restaurants.

These ones aren’t, however if you are looking for the perfect travel companion to aid in travel sickness, we have just the thing! I use only organic Ginger that gets washed and not peeled, then chopped and stuffed into about 3/4 height of a blender, then add cold water and a couple of chopped peeled lemons, then blitzed with water. Then I found alcoholic ginger beer and there are a couple of brands that are quite different from each other…one tastes more like beer (Phillips) and the other more like ginger (Crabbie’s). Original ginger beer is brewed by leaving water, sugar, ginger, optional ingredients such as lemon juice and cream of tartar, and GBP to ferment for several days, converting some of the sugar into alcohol. I haven’t yet tried Fever Tree (though their tonic is my favorite) but my favorite ginger beers are Barritt’s and Reed’s. I was out of triple sec, had 2 pounds of limes and a pack of ginger beer so this was perfect for me. These are cultivated by a small specialist producer in the beautiful Cochin area of India, where Charles and Tim have been to visit the farmers.

Hi Kate, wondering if you mixed the soda water in the mix and let it sit, or should wait till day of party. One of the things high end tequilas use in their process is crushing the agave with a tahona, which is a giant, usually horse-drawn millstone. Most recipes for ginger beer and ginger ale have you cook the ginger in sugar water to mellow the flavor, but this recipe uses raw, pungent ginger. Until about 2008 laboratory-grade GBP was available only from the yeast bank Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen in Germany (catalogue number DMS 2484), [10] but the item is no longer listed. I saw her Instagram and I knew I wanted to book her but meeting her in person was the “icing on the cake”.

This is 100% ginger, water and lemon – there is a settling of white ginger at the bottom of the bottle, all quite natural. We didn’t have the lime juice when we made them today so we added in some limoncello and it was just as yummy.I know you’ll have a million things to do around that time already (just got married myself), so I hate to suggest it but I think you’ll be happier with the flavor. To taste for sweetness, pour about 2 ounces ginger concentrate into a glass along with about 8 ounces of club soda. We served Zingi Bears at a party recently and many of the guests chose to sup this delicious and fresh alternative to beer or wine. Im also going to take the mash, and dehydrate it, then grind it down to refill my ground ginger season jar! I mention this for anyone wanting to make it ahead – you could at least do the hard part (getting the ginger juice) well ahead and freeze it, then make the rest of the recipe later.
