The original visual design for the Psycho Doga first appeared in an illustration by Yutaka Izabuchi in the June 1988 issue of Newtype magazine. This was the only official illustration of the Psycho Doga until the 2014 manga adaptation of Beltorchika's Children, in which Takayuki Yanase created a full design for the mobile suit. Not counting the B-Club kit, this Gunpla is the second plastic model iteration of the Nightingale unit, following the RE/100 kit.
