What: One of the biggest Easter eggs we’ve ever laid eyes on, this whopper from Kent-based chocolatier Cocoba weighs in at a weighty four kilograms. Gather together a few hungry mates to polish it off. These truffles really are pure indulgence, the bitter cocoa powder coats a gooey ganache centre that is studded with chewy pieces of caramel which melt in your mouth. All of these rich flavours may sound like a sugar overload, but the bitter cocoa and salt in the caramel balances the flavours perfectly.

What: Gianduja, for those who don’t know, is a delicious, smooth hazelnut chocolate combo that originates in Northern Italy - think Nutella and you’re on the right lines. This egg throws in crunchy whole hazelnuts for texture alongside smooth gianduja chocolate - perfect for Nutella nuts in the family. The chocolate itself is perfectly tempered with a great snap, and the flavour is sublime. Made with 70% cacao Peruvian dark chocolate, it’s incredibly rich and fruity with a bitterness that allows the cocoa flavour to be the star of the show. The creamy chocolate egg is generously studded with pieces of honeycomb throughout, and the chocolate itself is very sweet. I loved the hint of sea salt which added extra pops of sweetness throughout and made it even more moreish. When it comes to dark chocolate, you know you’re in safe hands with Montezuma*s – and this is certainly the case with this Easter hen. What: We love Chococo’s handmade chocolates, and the Dorset chocolatiers really outdo themselves at Easter with a huge range of great eggs. This milk chocolate number is made from their signature 47% Colombian milk chocolate, and 5% of every sale goes towards the Ocean Giants conservation programme.A little different to your traditional Easter egg shape, it’s a decent size at around 17cm high, 12cm wide and 11cm deep. Hammy Hamster is made using dairy-free milk chocolate and has a subtle taste of orange which was delicious. I did find this one to be slightly too sweet, but I can guarantee children with a sweet tooth will demolish this cute chocolate hamster in moments. Both Hammy and Mikey are studded with popping candy which adds another layer of fun to these chocolate treats. The chocolate itself is made using the brand’s stunning Nutmilk chocolate which uses finely milled hazelnuts instead of milk to give it a silky smooth texture. These are all individually wrapped in foil and have a slightly different flavour to the chocolate in the egg. The chocolate is slightly darker in colour, and the flavour is a little more fruity, with hints of dark cherry, which gives a really nice contrast to the egg itself.

What: Another beloved Swiss chocolatier, Laderach is best known for slabs of nuttyFrischSchoggi, which is also available in bunny shapes this Easter. If you're keeping things a bit more classic, go for this handsome Easter Bunny in Laderach's delicious milk chocolate (but also available in lots of other flavours and combos). In the past, vegan white chocolate has always slightly missed the mark in terms of flavour and can often be too sweet. However, I was pleasantly surprised with MooFree’s lemon white chocolate – the subtle taste of lemon balances the sweetness perfectly without being too tart for younger mouths. What: Venchi is the last word in luxury Italian chocolate, so who better to turn to when you want the best of the best? This incredible white chocolate egg is hiding a little surprise inside - a layer of Piedmontese hazelnuts, pistachios and lightly salted almonds. But what I enjoyed the most about this (apart from the cute shape), was the addition of the cocoa nibs.I adore honeycomb, so couldn’t wait to try Butterm!lk’s vegan milk chocolate egg with crunchy honeycomb flakes.
