To facilitate the rental of Lidl’s limited-edition jumpers made from upcycled textiles, the supermarket has partnered with By Rotation, a peer-to-peer rental app akin to Airbnb but for designer fashion, which is championed by figures such as Dame Helen Mirren, Chrissy Rutherford and Abisola Omole. The town clerk at March town council, Sarah Lemmon, launched an excoriating takedown of the wonky tree’s detractors, criticising “the cancel culture mentality of a moaning minority” who, she argued, were “trying to kill the spirit of Christmas”. LadBaby and LadBaby Mum rewarded McDonald’s fans with thousands of free points and exclusive merch as they took over the Drive-Thru for the day for the launch of MyMcDonald’s Rewards, the brand’s first ever rewards scheme. McDonald’s teamed up with TV presenter Rylan to lead the ultimate ‘Rewards Squad’ featuring a star-studded cast of celebrities who embarked on a tour of the UK and brought a series of surprising moments to customers across the nation. Earlier this week he put a call out to companies in a bid to produce a more affordable range of shirts with slogans such as Come on England and It's Coming Home.

She told Cambridgeshire Live: “It is very disappointing that each year sees a small (but very vocal) minority surface, which seems hellbent on spreading negativity, finding fault, levelling criticism, and generally trying to kill the spirit of Christmas.” Online firm, Manchester-based In the Style came to his aid and with its printers and manufacturers in the UK they have been able to turn it around within 48 hours. As part of the tour, McDonald’s has given away a massive 5 million Rewards points to customers, crew and their charity partners including BBC Children in Need, FareShare and Ronald McDonald House Charities. At every location, customers were delighted by the Rewards Squad with points that they can add to their MyMcDonald’s Rewards account on the McDonald’s App and redeem against their favourite menu items or convert to a cash equivalent charity donation. One resident, Kimberly Williams, told the BBC: “The Italians have got the leaning tower of Pisa; March has now got the leaning tree of Christmas.”

They did it for charity, but they came out the winners – always. Now it’s time for the Christmas number one to have a gorgeous, new era. Perhaps it will go to something political, a la The Kunts. Perhaps it will go to a festive classic, like Mariah Carey or Wham. I’d be keen to see a renaissance for a newer Christmas classic, like Kelly Clarkson’s Underneath The Tree or Ariana’s Santa Tell Me. As long as I’m not hearing about sausage rolls, it will be a very merry Christmas indeed. At least Johnson is doing better than Rishi Sunak, the actual prime minister, who can be found only as one of several images on a coaster set and matching framed print. Even Keir Starmer appears on his own flip-flops (get it?), and on a satirical Christmas card reading: “All I want for Christmas is EU”. And given only a third of Britons now think Brexit was the right decision, they may well sell lots of that one. After England's first game I thought I would buy myself and the boys a shirt for us to wear. I was surprised how expensive they were," he told Nottinghamshire Live. Why not enjoy our ever so slightly leaning tree and express some gratitude and festive cheer? For many years, a dedicated team of volunteers has worked incredibly hard to deliver what is, arguably, one of the finest Christmas lights displays in Cambridgeshire.” There is also an option to donate the cash equivalent of their points to BBC Children in Need, FareShare and Ronald McDonald House Charities, to support the company’s commitment to funding and supporting youth work, alongside reducing food poverty and waste in the UK.

LadBaby said: “Rox and I have had a great day surprising fans in Birmingham! Taking over the Drive-Thru was a blast, we loved surprising people with free Rewards points and some amazing merch! As people may know, Rox and I love to get involved in charity work where we can, so being able to visit Ronald McDonald House Birmingham was a real highlight – it’s great to see the work they’re doing for families with the launch of MyMcDonald’s Rewards. People can use their points to donate money to Ronald McDonald House Charities as well as McDonald’s other brilliant charity partners.” Dean Chapman, McDonald’s Franchisee manager said: “I am pleased MyMcDonald’s Rewards has launched in Birmingham and I know our customers will love earning and enjoying rewards on some of their favourite menu items. It was great to have LadBaby and LadBaby Mum here to help us with the launch at my Bristol Road restaurant in Birmingham. She conceded the tree was “a little bit wonky. But it is a beautiful tree that will be decorated this weekend and, let’s face it, Pisa’s famous leaning tower is celebrated and adored the world over. I am used to buying a Forest shirt but I wear that every match for a year. The England one is a lot more expensive for a shorter window."Christmas jumpers – resplendent in their slew of tinsel, reindeer, sparkles and tassels – became popular in the UK during the 1980s when television presenters including Gyles Brandreth wore them on festive shows. Lydia Bolton, the slow fashion designer who created the three Lidl jumpers, said: “Designing and producing these jumpers inspired by Christmas icons from secondhand textiles has been super fun and creative, but knowing they are going to be rented and reworn also supports my mission of valuing and reusing textiles.” It’s taken its time, but it’s clear that the public are growing weary of LadBaby – when it comes to Christmas number one, we’ve BEEN over it. Why? Because despite the fact LadBaby has positioned this number one endeavour that has seen him beat The Beatles’ record for most Christmas number one singles as a noble act for charity, it has been entirely self serving and profile building. Because despite LadBaby’s apparently noble efforts, we are yet to see the end of foodbanks in this country. Perhaps LadBaby should have angled their campaigns more towards criticism of the government who caused the astronomical rise for a need for foodbanks rather than trying to convince the general public to buy their single. Dozens of people debated the wonky tree when a photo appeared on a Facebook group, with some calling it “embarrassing” and others praising the work of volunteers from the March Christmas lights committee. They fell out of popularity in the 1990s – largely regarded as “gag gits”. In Bridget Jones’s Diary, they epitomised embarrassment.
