Eight stamps illustrate a selection of its most popular characters, while a miniature sheet of four showcases stories featuring their most famous duo, Wallace and Gromit. We have had the pleasure of creating these films featuring these much-loved characters over the last 40 years, so it is a real honour for the studio to receive this royal stamp of approval.

Aardman Classics

Key moments on the stamps include those from Wallace and Gromit animated short films A Matter Of Loaf And Death, The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave and A Grand Day Out. In addition to the eight stamps, an exclusive miniature sheet, created specially for Royal Mail by Aardman, will also be available. First day covers and stamp cards are available as usual, along with a press sheet of 12 unguillotined miniature sheets. A selection of Royal Mail stamps, each with a beloved character created at Bristol's Aardman Animations have been unveiled today. The limited edition collection will go on sale next week, and includes a miniature sheet for collectors.

Wallace and Gromit foil the scheme of a criminal mastermind in The Wrong Trousers, a short film made in 1993.Raised by a family of mice, Robin the robin tries to prove to them that she can be a really good mouse, but ends up discovering who she really is, in the Christmas short film Robin Robin, made in 2021. This was Aardmanʼs first stop-motion film to use felt puppets rather than clay figures.

The miniature sheet stamps are 27 x 37 mm ( A Close Shave) 34 x 24 mm (remainder), all perforated 14. It’s a true testament to all the hard work that goes into making these productions and we are sure that our fans will enjoy them.”The coding will be available on “definitive” stamps – the regular everyday stamps featuring the profile of the Queen. Non-coded definitive and Christmas stamps will remain valid until January 2023. This is a sheet of only 8 stamps, ie the full set with no duplication. It's self-adhesive, so the stamps may not be materially different to those in sheets.
