Although the 0.47-inch DMD has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080, the XGIMI Horizon can take a full 4K picture at 60Hz. It also supports HDR10 and HLG for HDR pictures. XGIMI's new flagship 4K lifestyle projector, the Horizon Pro, includes a bunch of advanced setup features that make it easy to just put it on a table, point it at a wall and start it up. Paired with the Android TV interface, it’ll have you watching in seconds.

Outputting at a super-bright 2200 ANSI, the Horizon Pro is one of the brightest projectors in its class. This means that rather than just being a night-time only projector, the Horizon Pro is just as happy with daytime viewing. Delivering consistently bright colours and sharp images, the Horizon Pro matches a TV for anytime viewing pleasure. It is a bit glossed over in the review, but it is amazing how many people ask how they hook their projector up to a speaker bar. This simple setup to improve sound quality is almost always asked first: "I want to use Bluetooth" - So, it would be good to know if you can make a connection between a lifestyle projector and a BT receiver and if audio quality is decent and if there are lip sync issues as there often are. But, the fact this has digital optical audio output is something that should be standard on all home theater projectors. BenQ, Epson, and others are releasing variants with 'SMART' functionality, then not giving us any surround sound outputs from the projector. That seems crazy to me. Generally, the 2200 lumens brightness is good enough to watch during the day, where you can get around a 60-inch picture (you need to put the projector around 5ft away). This also means you can watch outside when the full sun has gone, starting at around a 30-inch picture. When it gets fully dark, you can go as big as the projector will allow (300 inches). Comments about the Horizon Ultra's brightness are complicated by an Environment Adaptation feature that uses an auto iris and other techniques to adjust brightness for the ambient light in the room and, according to the menu option, "increases the brightness and color adjustment ranges to adapt to a bright light environment." Regardless, according to the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) recommendations, the rated 2,300 ISO lumens (equivalent to ANSI lumens) would be enough to light up a 220-inch diagonal, 1.0-gain, 16:9 screen in a dark room. The typical value of ΔE≈1 for color accuracy in the factory production of XGIMI HORIZON Ultra is obtained from the XGIMI Optical Laboratory. The calibration parameters will take effect when the high color accuracy mode is correctly activated in the system. Color accuracy may vary slightly depending on factors such as projection usage time and lab testing equipment. Please refer to your actual experience for an accurate assessment. Using my preferred settings for both SDR and HDR viewing, the image was appropriately bright for my 90-inch screen in a dark room or with a low level of ambient light, and it was also suitable for an 80-inch screen both at night in a family room with lights on or off, and in daytime on an overcast day. The feature can also automatically shrink the image to a smaller size to boost image brightness on particularly bright days. (Credit: Xgimi)

The measured weight may vary based on configuration, manufacturing process, and measurement method. The Horizon Pro runs Android TV 10.0, which some prefer over the newer Google TV-inspired UI that sometimes favors promoted content over your own. When watching any content during the day, I needed to make sure the curtains were drawn. Any excessive ambient light would cause the picture to look washed out. Switching to Performance brightness mode helps, but the extra green tint it adds made content unwatchable to me. With 1080p disc content like The Fifth Element on Super-Bit DVD, the XGIMI Horizon Pro exhibited some extra noise. (Photo Credit: Columbia Pictures) Thanks to a partnership with Harman/Kardon, the Horizon Pro uses a Harman/Kardon-tuned pair of 8 watt speakers pointing out each side and a passive radiator on the front under the lens. Both Dolby and DTS decoding are supported, the latter including three different sound modes—Movies, Music, and Sports. There wasn't a drastic amount of difference between the modes and I found Movies to be the most pleasing and used it most of the time. The sound was very upper-mid present, which was good for dialogue clarity, though the processing could override voices at times, especially when there was lots of action. Low end response was okay considering the size of the speakers and enclosure, but don't expect any sort of bass rumble from a system like this. The speakers do get to a decent volume, but that focus on mids could lead to listening fatigue at higher volumes, so when I wanted things louder I found the Music mode to be the best choice. That mode takes out the midrange push and adds a bit more low end response. The projector also acts well as a Bluetooth speaker and connects easily with a smartphone. Key Features Refer to the theoretical data from XGIMI laboratories: the power saving mode is calculated based on the average power consumption of HORIZON Pro (180W) and the power of a 98-inch TV (550W), viewed 8 hours every day in one year. With some of the features of a portable projector, combined with the size and light performance of a home cinema projector, the XGIMI Horizon is a fun projector that you can move around the house or take with you easily enough. hours is the theoretical lifespan of the light source. The actual lifespan may vary due to differences in environmental conditions, product usage habits and the mode selected. With a throw ratio of 1.2:1, you can achieve quite a big picture without having to place the Horizon too far from your display surface. Whether you’re gaming or watching the big game, smooth motion is crucial. The Horizon Pro delivers smoother motion thanks to its MEMC frame interpolation technology. It uses specialised algorithms to prevent image flutter, giving those fast-moving images a sharper, crisper definition.

Featuring twin HDMI connections, two USBs and more, it’s easy to get all your components connected to the Horizon Pro. Dual-band wi-fi and Bluetooth are on hand for wireless casting and music streaming. You can even plug in your headphones or connect to your home cinema, using the 3.5mm and optical digital outputs.hours is the theoretical lifespan of the light source. XGIMI makes every effort at the time of publication to ensure the accuracy of product information it provides. Due to subsequent changes involving product batches, production, and supply factors, it may be necessary for XGIMI to make changes and adjustments to text and images so that they match the performance, specifications, indexes, and components of the actual product. Product information is subject to such changes and adjustments without notice. Compatible with HDR10 and HLG formats, the Horizon Pro is the ideal projector for getting the best out of your movies, games and TV broadcasts. HDR10 and HLG deliver greater brightness and contrast, for a truly life-like picture. These technologies work seamlessly to deliver a more natural picture on the big screen.
