I felt that Stephen held back the truth about his first wife from Jenna a little too long, but otherwise, they communicated quite well for two people who had just met and were still getting to know each other. He constantly lashed out at her and acted like a jealous, petulant jerk 90% of the time, and there were a couple of times that I thought she would have been within her rights to slap him good. It's more than apparent that after only two books Karen Rose has found her story-telling niche in romantic suspense.

The narrator did a good job in enunciation, but the female voices, especially Jenna's did not come close to what I pictured she would sound like.He resents his father, he's stopped trying with his school work and he is letting his life go to ruin. May contain moderate to high sexual tension which could include passionate clinches that end in cut scenes and/or extremely mild love scenes with virtually no details. Not only is there a serial killer of teenage girls on the loose, but Steven's own teenage son Brad is suddenly acting up and failing at school. I was able to figure out the killer about halfway through but continued to challenge my choice almost to the end. Most of the reviews that I read say that this is not one of the best Karen Rose books, and I have to agree with that.

It’s imperative that the murderer is tracked down before he claims more victims, and Special Agent Steven Thatcher is dedicated to catching this monster. The story of Special Agent Steven Thatcher, whom we met in the previous book, and Jenna Marshall, his eldest son's science teacher. The serial killer plot is well done with some excellent twists and turns although a careful reader will find it very easy to identify the culprit. Though the suspense part was wonderful, thrilling, chilling, intriguing, and keeping the reader on the edge of the seat, the characterization and all those little sideline stories bothered me.I was also hoping for more time spent on the mystery and not Steven's "woe is me" angst or people telling him he needs to get married again for the sake of his boys -- which again, product of its time. The whole of it smacked a little like orchestrated melodrama, but even with that, my overall opinion of the romance is very positive. This is my second Karen Rose book, the first one being the first of this series, and I've got to say I like her style. When they meet, their own chemistry takes over and they find themselves falling in love, despite their troubled romantic pasts and the fact that Jenna may be next on the killer's list. you will already know the formula and just have to plug in different characters into the roles along side a new story line.
