About this deal

This is very annoying for me. You see, musk fragrances are by far my most-worn thanks to their clean, subtle, fresh, warm and skin-like nature. In my opinion, it’s impossible not to love a great musk fragrance. They’re so likeable that I ran out of lies long ago for when someone asks after my musk perfume. Now, through gritted teeth, I simply have to tell them the truth. And that truth is I’m likely wearing one of the below perfumes. Really energising and exciting, the 13 organic essential oils include bergamot, grapefruit and bay. Arguably you won’t find three more invigorating scents than that. The estimate delivery dates are based on the average delivery time. However, as we cannot guarantee the speed of the courier service. Of course we’ll never know someone, somewhere along the way, got the idea that it would be a good idea to try this potent ingredient out in a perfume: in its raw state, musk oil smells – well, a bit like poo… And yet, and yet – at the same time, strangely intriguing… A well-known German fragrance chemist, Phliip Kraft, brilliantly captures musk’s love-it-hate-it complexity. ‘The more one studies its character that of natural musk tincture, the more contrasting, vibrant and oscillating it becomes: repulsive-attractive, chemical-warm, sweaty-balmy, acrid-waxy, earthy-powdery, fatty-chocolate-like, pungent-leathery, fig-like, dry, nutty and woody, to give just some impressions’. Musk is a class of aromatic substances commonly used as base notes in perfumery. They include glandular secretions from animals such as the musk deer, numerous plants emitting similar fragrances, and artificial substances with similar odors. [1] [2] Musk was a name originally given to a substance with a strong odor obtained from a gland of the musk deer. The substance has been used as a popular perfume fixative since ancient times and is one of the most expensive animal products in the world. The name originates from the Late Greek μόσχος 'moskhos', from Persian mushk and Sanskrit मुष्क muṣka ( lit. 'testicle') [3] derived from Proto-Indo-European noun múh₂s meaning "mouse". [1] [4] The deer gland was thought to resemble a scrotum. It is applied to various plants and animals of similar smell (e.g. muskox) and has come to encompass a wide variety of aromatic substances with similar odors, despite their often differing chemical structures and molecular shapes.

While taken very seriously in the Middle East, oud has only caught on in a big way in the UK in last few years. It is derived from the tropical agar tree, which is thought to originate in Assam in India. When the tree is infected by a mould known as Phialophora parasitica it reacts by producing a dense, dark and fragrant resin to protect itself. It is the resin-embedded heartwood of the tree that is the source of oud.Auzias, Dominique; Labourdette, Jean-Paul (November 23, 2022). QATAR (EN ANGLAIS) 2023/2024 Petit Futé. Petit Futé. It’s incredibly versatile, in a perfumer’s hands: it softens, balances, ‘fixes’ (adds staying power and keeps a fragrance on the skin, while stopping other short-lived ingredients from disappearing too fast). It smells like skin itself. It almost hypnotises… Natural musk was used extensively in perfumery until the late 19th century when economic and ethical motives led to the adoption of synthetic musk, which is now used almost exclusively. [5] The organic compound primarily responsible for the characteristic odor of musk is muscone. As a brand more famous for its aromatherapy and skincare, the more recent foray into aftershave and men’s products is great.

We’re not naming names, but if you happen to love Aventus and hate the price tag, you may want to read on. Aventus has such a cult following that many other cologne brands have tried to replicate. There are some alternatives on the market, but they naturally don’t have the complexity and quality of the original. During the day or at work, you may want a lighter projection of fragrance, so a great buy is Burberry Touch for Men. But when the sun goes down, the best musk cologne for date night is Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man.Other ingredients, too – like extracts of ambrette seed, galbanum and angelica root – can also deliver a musky sensuality to a perfume. Although if you have trouble smelling musk, you’re not alone: ‘anosmia’ to some – or all – musk ingredients is actually pretty common… Since obtaining the deer musk requires killing the endangered animal, nearly all musk fragrance used in perfumery today is synthetic, sometimes called "white musk". They can be divided into three major classes: aromatic nitro musks, polycyclic musk compounds, and macrocyclic musk compounds. [5] The first two groups have broad uses in industry ranging from cosmetics to detergents. However, the detection of the first two chemical groups in human and environmental samples as well as their carcinogenic properties initiated a public debate on the use of these compounds and a ban or reduction of their use in many regions of the world. Macrocyclic musk compounds are expected to replace them since these compounds appear to be safer.
