Description

Finally, the role of the Seeker is to catch the Golden Snitch. This is a small golden ball the approximate size of a walnut. The winged Snitch is enchanted to hover, dart, and fly around the pitch rapidly and indiscriminately, avoiding capture while remaining within the boundaries of the playing area. A Seeker catching the Snitch ends the game and scores the successful Seeker's team an additional 150 points. (15 goals) As the team with the most points wins, this often guarantees victory for the successful Seeker's team. A notable exception is when Bulgaria Seeker Viktor Krum catches the Snitch for Bulgaria during the World Cup Final in Goblet of Fire, while his team are still 160 points behind Ireland (their opponents), thus making his own team lose by only 10 points. This ...is the Golden Snitch, and it's the most important ball of the lot. It's very hard to catch because it's so fast and difficult to see. It's the Seeker's job to catch it. You've got to weave in and out of the Chasers, Beaters, Bludgers, and Quaffle to get it before the other team's Seeker, because whichever Seeker catches the Snitch wins his team an extra hundred and fifty points, so they nearly always win. That's why Seekers get fouled so much. A game of Quidditch only ends when the Snitch is caught, so it can go on for ages--I think the record is three months, they had to keep bringing on substitutes so the players could get some sleep."Slytherin Sweatshirt, Hogwarts Shirts, Wizarding World Sirt, Hogwarts House Sweatshirt, Magic World Shirt, Wizard School Shirt, HP Fan Gift Flood, Alison (8 July 2014). A replacement for the Golden Snidget was sought, and the skilled metal-charmer Bowman Wright invented the Golden Snitch to replace it. The Snitch weighed exactly the same as a Snidget, and its rotational wings imitated the bird's, allowing it to change direction and speed like its living counterpart. The Golden Snitch, commonly referred to as a Snitch, is the smallest and fastest ball in the game of Quidditch. Serbian: Златна скривалица (Zlatna skrivalica) ( skrivati se "to hide", literally "The little gold hider") Once the toy is disassembled, I sanded the shell down with steel wool to remove the graphics put on by the manufacturer. a b "The Leaky Cauldron and MN Interview J.K. Rowling". The Leaky Cauldron. 16 July 2005 . Retrieved 29 May 2017. The Golden Snitch was originally not a ball, but a little magical bird called a Golden Snidget. It was introduced in 1269, when the Chief of the Wizards' Council, Barberus Bragge, unleashed a Golden Snidget during a Quidditch match, offering a reward of 150 Galleons to the player who caught the Snidget. [1]Gameplay is based on the description in the books, films, and game adaptations, though the sport has been adapted to suit real-world constraints. Quidditch is still evolving to suit safe play for the members of the teams, male and female. Apart from joining teams registered with their national governing body, individuals are also able to become an official certified referee to officiate tournaments and games throughout the year as teams compete to take part in various national and international tournaments. As the oldest national governing body, USQ has hosted a grand total of ten US Quidditch Cups as of 2017. Making Golden Snitches was a very complicated process as it had to be handled with gloves only. Snitches had flesh memory, making it necessary to use a new Golden Snitch for every match. Even the makers of the Snitch wore gloves to prevent touching the Snitch. This ...is the Golden Snitch, and it's the most important ball of the lot. It's the Seeker's job to catch it." — Description of a Golden Snitch [src] Quidditch makes use of three balls – the Quaffle, which is used by the chasers to score goals by throwing them through the opponent team’s hoops, which fetches the team 10 points. The second ball, called the Bludger is used by the beaters of the team to aim at the players of the opponent teams to distract and impede during the match. The Snitch as described above carries 150 points and is used to end the match when caught by the seeker of one of the playing teams.
