Richard Winton at BBC Sport Scotland remembering the 1986 World Cup this week told the story of Rod’s pre cup meet up with some of the Scotland squad. It sticks to the same format as Every Picture Tells a Story and Never a Dull Moment but lacks the lyrical cohesion that unified those two and made them work. However, those sessions only yielded another song, which was used as its b-side, and as they had touring commitments, they left that as-is.

Rod had this week had his own bad news regarding the passing of his brother Bob and then it was announced that Christine McVie had died so tonight Rod dedicated ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ to the Fleetwood Mac musician, Christine recorded a version of the Etta James song in 1969 with her band Chicken Shack and Soon after Chicken Shack’s single release Christine left the band, and in the autumn of 1969 she was persuaded by Mike Vernon to record tracks for a solo album, in which she performed a different version of ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’. I haven’t played piano in quite a while and wouldn’t say I’m amazing but can play well enough to accompany myself. Rod sang a stunning version of Tom Traubert’s Blues (Waltzing Matilda) in the set, the first time Rod has sang it live since The 2015 Hyde Park set.Families in Glasgow and the west need help and we are trying to raise funds for them and do that with a smile on our faces and a big party anthem. Finishing up things in side one is "Gettin' Hungry", a Beach Boys song from "Smiley Smile", of all things. Rod is featured on a new Long John Baldry 2 disc vinyl released in April, Long John Baldry BBC Broadcasts 1965-66 . He had that absolute star quality which he shares with the likes of Tom Jones and Elton John, which has allowed them to stay relevant in the music industry even after all of these years. While that was being mixed, both Wood and Stewart began recording their solo albums, in the basement of Ronnie's mansion, The Wick.
