Each show will have a host compere to guide you through the night and feature at least three different acts. You may not like them all, but the odds are in your favour. The aim is to have a fun night in an intimate venue and be entertained by professional performers. From the start, we knew we wanted a brand that tied into the main Scouts skills for life brand, reflect our values and vision. We’ve shared the design with a number of faith groups, including an independent Islamic scholar. We’ve made sure: I think granny square crochet projects such as bags and cardigans are perfect for when you don’t have much time – complete one square or several, whatever fits into the time you have. The 25 World Scout Jamboree will take place in Korea, and the theme for the event is #DrawYourDream. We’ve taken inspiration from this – and the national animal of Korea – to create our brand: ‘Dreams and tigers’.

The event takes place every four years where a different country hosts the event and its participants. In the Summer of 2023, over 4,500 Scouts and Guides from across the UK made their way to Korea for the 25th World Scout Jamboree. The UK Contingent

The first Jamboree was held at Olympia, London in 1920. Since then, the Jamboree has taken place roughly every four years, bringing 14-17 year olds together from all around the World. Providing an opportunity for young people to share their cultures, learn about the world around them and participate in a variety of activities. Adults have been involved in the journey as well, I am proud that we have engaged with over 70 stakeholders throughout the journey including the religious Scout Active Support Units, perception volunteers, senior volunteers, past UK Contingent volunteers and our fabulous staff team. I cannot thank our professional staff: Jade and Chris enough for their support with the brand and tone of voice, our amazing designer: Jo, who has brought ‘Dreams and tigers’ to life, and my own team, especially Matthew, Amy, Kester and Christina, for the remarkable time and effort they’ve given. Of course, thisis an incrediblyexciting moment forthe UK Contingent team, but also for thewider movementtoo – as we hope everyone will get the chance to be involved in theWorld Scout Jamboreein 2023.It’s alsoachance for the UK Team to showthat this UK Contingentis truly shaped by young people and is inclusive atitsheart. Crochet projects that are worked in stages like this give a sense of satisfaction when each part is completed (and sometimes the motivation to continue!). The World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) is an international gathering of Scouts and Guides from all around the world. Together, the UKC represents the UK at the World Scout Jamboree. According to his, at the time, child bride-to-be Myra in her book Great Balls Of Fire! (co-written with Murray Silver), when Lewis took her to watch Jamboree he refused to bring her into the cinema until moments before he was due on screen, and escorted her out again after his segment, saying, “There’s nothing else in it you’d wanna see.”
