Description

It is an “eau de toilette” that belongs to the aquatic woody aromatic family for men, which was launched in 2017. It became more curved and anatomical and if viewed from the side, it has a similar shape to that of the female perfume (L'Eau D'Issey Pure). Top notes are Grapefruit, Bergamot and Mint; middle notes are Sea Notes, Hedione and Tea; base notes are Cashmeran, Woody Notes, Amberwood, Cedar and Coumarin.

Clearly, Issey recognised that in the age of the uniform Boss smells and the post-2000 Italian mob, they needed something that fit in with the boring type of run-of-the mill stuff that seems to be everybody's favourite these days. I've been whining recently about generic, uncreative scents saturating the marketplace and you'd think I'd embrace something which evokes such a colourful response in either direction, for beeter or worse. Yes it does have the same stuff going on as Invictus, Versace Eros (+ countless others) but makes those two seem the pinnacle of olfactory excellence in comparison.I don't get why there are so many negative reviews, this is nothing like invictus, it has so much more going on. But there was a point where this all turned, and from that point on, I could only smell this as the synthetic mess some have mentioned below.

Having said all that, there is something about this fragrance that takes me back to my childhood in elementary school. The cashmeran comes in and it eventually dries to a sweet, somewhat nutty accord while keeping the sea notes as well. The mint note disappears within 5 minutes, the marine notes and the bitter accord of grapefruit, take over the scent for the better part of the duration of the scent and the mixture of cedar and cashmere on the dry down is prominent. Not bad—but very light-bodied due being so richly synthetic, and more than a bit underwhelming in all regards of sophistication for the same reason. Up to this point, the distinct flowery-woodsy-citric component that always identified the different incarnations of L'Eau was dominant. For example, some top note citrus scents smell stronger immediately upon application, while a lavender middle note may be sensed after some time from application as the top note evaporates. You won’t really notice any difference between a product purchased from Perfume’s Club and a product purchased from a seller in our new Marketplace.
