Whether trying to sleep, work, or watch TV, you don’t want any loud whirring, buzzing or clunking disturbances interrupting your work. If you’re particularly keen to create a perfect working, relaxing or sleeping environment, you may want to look for a bladeless fan with more adjustability when it comes to settings. Speed Settings
USER-FRIENDLY REMOTE CONTROL - Seamlessly manage your fan's speed, oscillation, and timer with the convenience of a smart remote control, a perfect companion for our bladeless tower fan. The EcoAir Kinetic Fan is a robust and well-built fan that offers powerful performance, relatively simple assembly, straightforward and easy-to-use controls, quiet operation, and best-in-class energy efficiency. It can oscillate 90° and also tilt through 15°, making it possible to angle as required; however, it does need to be positioned on a raised surface because at 68 cm tall it is more of a desk fan than a free-standing model. For this reason, it’s one of the best bladeless fans for anyone who suffers with dust allergies. The fan works to remove impurities from the air whilst delivering a cooling blast. Reports from customers suggest that it does improve air quality and make a noticeable difference for those who struggle with dust or pollen allergies. While it doesn’t come with a remote, we love all of the safety features, including a cool-touch exterior that keeps everyone—including children and pets—from touching a hot surface. We also think the hidden cord wrap on the bottom of the fan is a nice touch and that it comes with a five-year warranty.Firstly, let’s briefly overview how a bladeless fan even manages to produce air. Bladeless fans work by pulling in air in several different ways. They often have a small bladed fan concealed in their base, which draws in some air. Then, the low pressure created within the fan’s hoop pulls in more air from behind. Air is forced out through the narrow slits in the hoop of the fan, and continues in this cycle. With a convenient carry handle, this fan can be lifted and moved from room to room if needed. There’s also a built-in area for storing the remote control when not in use. We tested this combination fan heater at home for over six months in a drafty living room and an enclosed porch. We also found it to be a great size to bring to the office for personal use by our desk. We loved how lightweight it was to move, and found the handle made it very easy to lift. The only issue we found is that heat only came out of the right side of the unit, and since it does not have an oscillation setting either, we had to move the heater around to get the right amount of heat distribution. However, we have no other complaints about this great little unit. Its power helps a lot: we measured air speed at 4m/s from 15cm away making this one of the most powerful fans that we’ve tested. Fortunately, this fan is very quiet, moving between 43.5dB on the lowest fan setting up to an acceptable 57.2dB on the maximum setting. With a neat remote control giving you easy access to all of the fan’s features, this is a top-quality fan for keeping you cool and your room feeling fresh. If you want a desktop version, go for the MeacoFan 650 Air Circulator. We found this a good fan for small- to medium-sized rooms. On its high setting, the fan reached an airspeed of 3.2m/s at a distance of 15cm. That’s good but there are more powerful fans that are better suited to larger rooms. At this speed, we found that the fan wobbled slightly, too. At 1m distance, the fan speed was still a decent 2.2m/s, providing a noticeable cool airflow. We were impressed with how quiet this fan was: at 15cm, we measured it at 66.2dB, and at 1m, it was just 50.3dB.
We’ve tested dozens of fans and space heaters at The Lab and in our own homes, as well as researched additional combination fan heaters that fit our requirements. All options were evaluated on performance, design, safety features, noise levels, portability, and value. Combination fans and heaters can vary widely in their heat settings—some allow you to select a precise temperature using a digital thermostat, while others simply offer one or two heating settings and others have both. The option to select a temperature is ideal for people who want more granular control over the heat output ( our best portable, the Vornado AVH10 Vortex Heater has this). If you just want to add a little extra warmth to your space and only need two heat settings, we recommend our best for small rooms, the GiveBest Portable Electric Space Heater With Thermostat, or best budget, the LifePlus 2-in-1 Heater Fan Combo. The EcoAir Kinetic's downsides are its size, which means it's not the best fit for a small home and can make storage a struggle if you're not blessed with a garage to stash it out of sight when it's not in use. It's also not the most portable fan in our round-up, weighing in at 5kg, the heaviest of all the fans we've tested. Our reviewer also wasn't entirely sold on its slightly dated appearance, although they were impressed by its build quality. All the fans on our list rotate to some extent, but the models with greater ranges of motion can help improve the comfort of several people at once. For a living room, try the Dyson Purifier Cool Auto React, which rotates just shy of 360 degrees. Weight
While it looks like a regular desk fan, this budget-friendly unit from LifePlus may surprise you with its excellent heating capabilities. It doesn’t oscillate, but you can tilt it from a 15- to 45-degree angle to point the airflow right where you need it. The unit has just one knob with color-coded settings, which makes it very user-friendly. Simply turn the knob to the blue side (cool) to select one of two fan speeds and to the red side (hot) to control the heating power of the electrical coil inside the unit, either 750 or 1,500 watts. Unlike many of the units on this list, it does not come with a remote or a sleep timer. Get the benefits of three different small appliances—a heater, fan, and air purifier—all in one sleek unit thanks to the Dyson HP01 Pure Hot + Cool. Whether you choose to turn on the fan or the heater, this Dyson model purifies and circulates the air, using a HEPA filter to capture 99.97 percent of particles as small as 0.3 microns, including pollen, mold, dust, and pet dander. Certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, it even has an activated carbon filter that helps remove odors from your home, and it’s effective in spaces as large as 800 square feet. The Dreo Quiet Bladeless Cooling Fan is one of the best bladeless fans for night time use, with an exceptionally quiet sleep mode that’ll struggle to disturb even the lightest of sleepers! Again, this is a particularly useful to have if you plan ti use your fan during the night as it means you don't have to get out of bed to adjust the fan speed, direction, or to turn it on or off. Oscillation AIR PURIFICATION TECHNOLOGY: Our air purifier hot and cold device not only maintains your comfort but also enhances air quality. It acts as an effective air purifier and heater, capturing dust and allergens with its advanced air purifier fan and heater system. The 100% ozone-free vortex air fan is especially beneficial for those with allergies, ensuring your home remains a healthy environment with its hot air fan capabilities.

All in all, the Russell Hobbs 12" Scandi Desk Fan looks good, isn't too expensive, and if you're not going to use it too often then it does the job of blowing air towards you during particularly hot and clammy days. If you're willing to invest more for quieter operation and better performance, then there are better fans to be found in this edit.
What I also really appreciated about this model is the air purifier. My wife suffers from hayfever during the summer, and this feature really helps negate the issue at night. The filter is also really easy to replace, with the casing around the bottom of the fan coming away very easily. Firstly, from a design perspective it looks very sleek and modern. I went with the traditional white and grey, as it fits in with my bedroom decor, but it actually has 8 different colour combinations to choose from for those with more adventurous tastes! Thanks to its DC motor – part of the reason this fan requires a little more investment – it also delivers that cooling airflow almost silently. Whilst it can't quite beat the Duux Whisper Flex Ultimate Fan on the 'virtually silent' front, it comes very close, especially when you consider what powerful airflow this fan can dish out. There's no hint of the dreaded droning noise that's associated with most fans, instead the only noise is of gushing air. The Honeywell Turbo Force Power Fan is basic in all senses of the word, however, that's also part of its appeal. There's no self-assembly to do, and no faffing with bloated control options, its manual control button couldn't be simpler to adjust, even if it feels a bit cheap. On average, a fan heater will use about 1 to 2 kWh of electricity, or about 1,000 to 2,000 watts, for every hour the device is on (most on our list top out at 1,500 watts on high heat). Many people prefer these units for supplementary heating and cooling as they use significantly less energy than an air conditioner. The fan itself has three speed settings, can oscillate on its base, and has a sleep timer as well. The timer can be programmed for either 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or 4 hours. This doesn’t give as many options as many other fans, but it will still help with saving electricity when sleeping. Value for Money: I looked at the quality and versatility of the fan against the money spent. Those that were particularly expensive got a lower rating, but I also factored in the quality for the price.
