Since there are so many activation points, you can control very precisely whether you want to go fast or slow with the red dial. The “hints” also only show up on your main screen, not the screen assigned to your tablet, so they don’t help you figure out what function your red dial is on at all since you can’t see the hints on the right screen anyways.

If you are a traditional artist who is used to sketch on a notebook or paint on a canvas and wants to try digital art for the first time, the learning curve will be much easier than a standard drawing tablet since where you put the pen is where you draw. Compared to the Artist 12’s slim touch bar, it’s easier to control accurately and with more freedom with the 12 Pro’s dial wheel, letting you capture and express your ideas faster and more easily. This is one of the few small cons of the XP-Pen driver which has been around for a fairly long time now. Of course, I still think the more buttons there are on a tablet the better, but I personally only “need” 8 buttons + 1 wheel after streamlining my workflow more, and that is why my newer reviews say I’m satisfied with 8 shortcuts (+1 wheel which is implied). It also comes with a replaceable anti-glare optical film and features high transparency and scratch resistance while reducing glare and keeping your screen crisp and clear even bright light. However, others say that the pen nibs wear out way too easily, the drivers can be a little wonky, and the stylus feels a bit cheap. Instead, this pen has the switch to the eraser on the top side button, which is practical too actually, but it’s taking me a while to remember not to flip the pen as it seems quite intuitive.

The other issue, the non-smooth pen tapering, is not as intrusive as the bad cursor accuracy and you can still draw quite well with it. If you are worried about whether this tablet will work with your art program, don’t be afraid to contact support to ask them directly.
