Repetitive, silly, unrealistic, far-fetched and without giving away character or theme storyline’s, I keep saying, “there’s no way that person would do that”. even though we were told over and over how wonderful he is and loyal and blah blah (book is all tell and zero show) oh and he admits to cheating on his wife throughout the marriage.A thought-provoking and moving story of second chances and living your best life from the world’s favourite storyteller, Danielle Steel. He manages to stumble upon the house of a gorgeous younger woman living on the outskirts of town who opens up the door and lets said injured, bloody man in.

One does imagine simply walking away from everything, but not like Charles does letting everyone who matters think he’s dead.In a world where money tends to dictate happiness, only by losing his prestige and name, does Charlie realize what's important. Other recent bestsellers include Finding Ashley, The Affair, Neighbors, All that Glitters, Expect a Miracle, Royal, and Daddy’s Girls, all of which have leapt to the top of the New York Times bestseller list, the Wall Street Journal list, and comparable best seller lists around the world. He drives off a cliff by accident and wanders the woods and ends up at a woman's house who he sleeps with. There were many times I felt the story was repetitive and the same points were being made over and over again. I wonder if the editors just take this super successful authors manuscript and send it to print without reading it first.

Charles Vincent appears to have everything he’s always wanted in life, his two children are grown and off doing their own thing, and while his marriage isn’t perfect, he’s worked hard to keep it together. I found the overall message in the book to be powerful, but the story was lacking depth in my opinion. After this random hookup, the man is so enamored with this gorgeous younger woman that he lets his family think he is dead for MONTHS. One night, following yet another argument with his employer, he leaves the city and drives up the coast toward his chateau and a weekend spent entertaining his wife’s friends. Steel twists your head around and blows your mind in this romantic, suspense, adventure and heartfelt novel.

The setting is gorgeous, part of the book is set in Paris, some of it is set in Charles’s lavish château in Normandy, and part of it is set in Aud’s small cabin, also in Normandy. I try to be as fair as I can because I realize how hard it is to put a book out and let the world see a piece of your work. His job pays well, which helps his wife maintain the lifestyle she desires, but his job isn’t what he’s always wanted to do.
