Truth be told, there's not that much difference between the running gear of the various budget 125s. Just about all of them use air-cooled SOHC engines – made in China but based on far older Japanese designs – though the Venom's motor does have a balance shaft and like all modern 125s, it's fuel-injected. Gearbox is a five-speeder and the exhaust is a – you guessed it – one-into-one made of ordinary steel, not stainless. This straightforward spec reflects the price. Specifically, Venom’s Ducati Scrambler appears to be the Full Throttle edition, which features short Termignoni mufflers, a race-inspired seat, and Pirelli dual-sport tires. We originally wondered if the film’s creators would choose to use the new-for-2018 Scrambler 1100, offering an 86-hp L-twin from the Monster Evo. However, a number of design elements — such the gauge cluster and oil cooler placement — indicate the bike in the film is a regular 803cc Scrambler. Though, in some shots, it appears to have the high-mount dual exhaust of the 1100. In others, however, it clearly has the low exhaust… There’s no getting away from the fact that the Lexmoto Venom 125 is not only one of the cheapest 125s you can buy, it’s also very cheap to run – that’s the main reason for its huge and continued popularity after all. The seat itself is as cossetting as a plank of pine, but we can’t imagine many riders buying this machine for long hauls. Indeed some owners, who presumably only ride it over short distances, profess the Venom is very comfortable to ride.
