In 2023, the game VAN DAMME – Dawn of the Chihuahuas from the French gaming company, AwareCorp Studios was released. In the sci-fi game for mobile devices, which sees Van Damme pairing up with his chihuahua Lola, players save dogs in distress, while helping real rescued dogs. The game also raises funds for various animal rescue organizations around the world. Van Damme stated: "I’m delighted to be taking part in this fantastic adventure game, and to be supporting animal welfare, a cause close to my heart. I’ve always been a dog lover and I’m determined to help abandoned animals who need a second chance. Lola and I are delighted to be contributing to the success of a game that will not only entertain, but also make a real difference to thousands of vulnerable animals." Van Damme's had a hell of a career - cheap but endearing apocalyptic sci-fi action in Cyborg, double Van Damme craziness in Double Impact, TimeCop, Maximum Risk and more, almost hitting the big time alongside Dolph Lundgren in Universal Soldier, with his John Woo actioner Hard Target one of the finest in his filmography. [47] Lionheart was directed by Sheldon Lettich who had co-written Bloodsport, and said the film was "the first movie to demonstrate that Van Damme was more than just a flash-in-the-pan "Karate Guy" who would never rise above simplistic low-budget karate movies." [48] It also featured rear nudity from Van Damme which Lettich says "became a very memorable moment for the ladies in the audience, and for the gay guys as well. Showing off his butt (clothed or unclothed) almost became a signature trademark of his after that." [48] Van Damme was considered to play Simon Phoenix in Demolition Man [59] and was briefly considered for the role of Michael Cheritto in Heat. A follow-up to Lionheart has been considered on several occasions. In 2014, director Albert Pyun said that he had been approached to direct a remake of the film. By 2016, the film was listed in the production slate of Moonstone Entertainment, owner of the Imperial library since 2013, but it did not happen. [27] [28] Brian Thompson, a good friend of Lettich's, was immediately hired as the main antagonist's right-hand man. [3] Ashley Johnson, who plays Lyon's young niece, made her acting debut in this film. She was noticed when she accompanied family friends to an audition for the film while on a holiday trip to Los Angeles. [2] Filming [ edit ] In 2005, he played himself in the French film Narco. In 2006, he starred in Second in Command directed by Simon Fellows, and The Hard Corps directed by Sheldon Lettich.

Mostly, the direction is average, though Director Peter Malota does a nice job with the pacing. This slow to begin with but speeds up nicely when the action starts. There are a couple of sections where he slows it down to help the story and to give the viewers a breather.

What to know

I had known Frank Dux for a number of months before I came up with the idea for Bloodsport. Frank told me a lot of tall tales, most of which turned out to be bullshit. But his stories about participating in this so-called "Kumite" event sounded like a great idea for a movie. There was one guy who he introduced me to, named Richard Bender, who claimed to have actually been at the Kumite event and who swore everything Frank told me was true. A few years later this guy had a falling-out with Frank, and confessed to me that everything he told me about the Kumite was a lie; Frank had coached him in what to say." [8] Freitas, Marco A.S. The disc presents a 3840x2160/24p BT.2020 image in the widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1, and uses a Wide Colour Gamut (WCG), High Dynamic Range and Dolby Vision (and HDR10+), and is encoded using the HEVC (H.265) codec.
