PERFECT WITH TONIC – Boatyard Double Gin is best enjoyed in a refreshing gin and tonic with a slice of fresh grapefruit. Old Tom is a style of gin that some say takes its name from an illicit method of dispensing gin in the 18th Century.

The spirit has pure water added to it before it is rested for a minimum of two weeks and then bottled at 46% ABV. A CLASSIC STYLE GIN - The ‘double’ in Boatyard Double Gin refers to the distillation method – where juniper is added at both the start of the process inside the liquid in the still and also at the end of the process after the column. ORGANIC GIN FROM IRELAND – A true juniper-forward gin made on the edge of Lough Erne in County Fermanagh in Ireland. French Sauternes dessert wine has been added to the gin to bring a touch of natural sweetness to the final spirit.Light and elegant on the palate, the floral notes are balanced by the sweetness of the licorice root, with a hint of vanilla that develops on the finish. The first legal distillery built in County Fermanagh in 130 years, Boatyard is a genuinely different distillery – innovative, open, transparent, truly craft, obsessed with quality and passionate about distillation. The carefully crafted balance of flavours brings harmony to this spirit - intense plum, almond and berry fruitiness from the sloes and soft sweetness from the honeysuckle accompanied by our juniper-forward Double Gin - giving you the perfect mix of dry, sweet and tart. The ‘double’ in Boatyard Double Gin refers to their distillation process and a purist’s approach of placing juniper at both the start and end of the process.I recently opened the bottle having read the label which outlined its origins ( from a very pretty and historical part of Fermanagh ) and with my friends sampled with an open mind ( and mouth ) and all AGREED delicious ! We finish the process by adding a wild Fermanagh honeysuckle syrup which gives a more balanced and natural sweetness. Crafted with meticulous care, this gin draws inspiration from the traditional Old Tom recipe, which dates back to the 18th century.

Palate - "Disciplined framework, with creamy lemon and lime, integrated rose and lavender, with a hint of liquorice, finishing with underlying angelica root, locked in with a little spice and even more mouth-filling citrus. Situated on a marina inside an old boatyard on the banks of Lough Erne, Northern Ireland, Boatyard is an award-winning farm-to-bottle distillery founded in 2016 by Joe McGirr. Winter Solstice Gin from the Boatyard Distillery in County Fermangh shows off some of the fabulous flavours of winter – namely Christmas pudding! I started making my own Sloe Gin some forty-plus years ago and took great pride in the preparation and pricking of the berries, selection of my gin, and the right amount of sugar. Boatyard Double Gin is the essence of Fermanagh brought to life with earthy tones from the family farm foraged botanical, Sweet Gale. I have done this with my own brews and still have a bottle from all those years ago that only comes out on very special occasions. The smooth and refined nature of Boatyard Old Tom Gin makes it a perfect choice for classic cocktails like the Tom Collins or Martinez, allowing the flavours to shine through.
