Description

CE Marking and Declaration of Performance to EN 14188-2 - Joint fillers and sealants - Cold applied joint sealants The substrate must be clean, dry, sound and homogeneous, free from oils, grease, dust and loose or friable particles. Sikaflex® PRO adheres without primers and/or activators. Sika 291 i is also perfect for most caravan and motorhome applications as will allow for some movement but has an extremly good bond to properly cleaned and prepared surfaces.

The joint width must be designed to suit the movement capability of the sealant. The joint width must be ≥ 10 mm and ≤ 40 mm. A width to depth ratio of 1:0,8 must be maintained (for exceptions, see table below). PVC has to be cleaned and pre-treated using Sika® Primer-215 applied with a brush. Before sealing, allow a drying time of > 30 minutes (< 8 hours). CE Marking and Declaration of Performance to EN 15651-4 - Sealants for non-structural use in joints in buildings - Sealants for pedestrian walkways. Classification: PW EXT-INT CC 25 HM However, for optimum adhesion, joint durability and critical, high performance applications the following priming and/or pre-treatment procedures must be followed: Other metals, such as copper, brass and titanium-zinc: Clean and pre-treat using Sika® Aktivator-205 applied with a clean cloth. After a waiting time of > 15 minutes (< 6 hours), apply Sika® Primer-3 N applied by brush. Before sealing, allow a waiting time of > 30 minutes (< 8 hours)Other metals, such as copper, brass and titanium-zinc, also have to be cleaned and pre-treated using Sika® Aktivator-205, wiped on with a clean towel. After the necessary flash-off time, use a brush to apply Sika® Primer-3 N and allow a further flash-off time of > 30 minutes (< 8 hours) before sealing the joints. The joint width must be designed to suit the joint movement required and the movement capability of the sealant. The joint width shall be ≥ 10 mm and ≤ 30 mm. A width to depth ratio of 1:0.8 must be maintained (for exceptions, see table below).

The growing demand in this market is fueled by an increasing awareness of the importance of high-performance sealants for the overall durability and energy efficiency of buildings, the increasing volume of high-rise projects and the continued replacement of mechanical fastening systems by adhesives due to better performance. Innovations Aluminium, anodised aluminium, stainless steel, PVC, galvanised steel, powder coated metals or glazed tiles: slightly roughen surface with a fine abrasive pad. Clean and pre-treat using Sika® Aktivator-205 applied with a clean cloth. PVC has to be cleaned and pre-treated using Sika® Primer-215 applied with a brush. Before sealing, allow a waiting time of > 30 minutes (< 8 hours). The substrate must be clean, dry, sound and homogeneous, free from oils, grease, dust and loose or friable particles. Sikaflex® Construction+ adheres without primers and/or activators. The new fastening technique of elastic bonding complements the existing range of traditional fastening methods. The first use of elastic adhesives to bond components and assemblies in the manufacture of vehicles dates to the early 1980s. The modern rail industry now depends on elastic adhesives for a whole range of fastening applications – including roof assemblies, window glass, side walls, front and rear ends, floor pans and countless smaller assemblies. The bonding of all these components to the structure helps to increase the stiffness and reduce the weight of the vehicle. As a result, the latest generation of trams weights up to a third less than their predecessors, which helps to reduce the life cycle cost.Standard joint widths for joints between concrete elements for exterior applications: Joint distance [m]

The substrate must be sound, clean, dry and free of all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, cement laitance, old sealants and poorly bonded paint coatings which could affect adhesion of the adhesive / sealant. The substrate must be of sufficient strength to resist with the stresses induced by the sealant during movement.Typical joint widths for joints between concrete elements for exterior applications Joint distance [m] Other metals, such as copper, brass and titanium-zinc, clean and pre-treat using Sika® Cleaner P or Sika® Aktivator-205 applied with a clean cloth. After a waiting time of > 15 minutes (< 6 hours). Apply Sika® Primer-3 N by brush. Sikaflex 291 bonds extremely well to the materials commonly used in marine and also Motorhome and vehicle construction However, for optimum adhesion and critical, high performance applications, such as on multi-story buildings, highly stressed joints, extreme weather exposure or water immersion, the following priming and/or pre-treatment procedures shall be followed:
