I never saw any of the FailFix commercials, so I can't speak to those, but I actually feel like, if anything, the outlandish hair and goofy faces take some of the pressure off the idea of a flawless appearance. I was a bit nervous that the hot water might loosen whatever substance is holding the bottoms of the braids together, but everything went fine. Crystal's body caused me to investigate a little further, and apparently there's a third body type in this line, too!

I think a lot of the issues could've been fixed if this doll line had gotten a bit more time, but like Mermaid High, the stiff competition from MGA probably made it hard for this brand to really be competitive, especially with the criticism from parents putting Moose Toys in a difficult position.Fortunately I learned pretty quickly that palmolive dish soap cuts through their hair gel super easily, though that didn't solve the issue of their clothing textures.

Overall, Erin really enjoyed the makeover experience of the FailFix dolls, and has enjoyed playing with them with her other dolls after the makeover was complete. The Fail Fix dolls stand at around 9 inches tall and come with a little plastic stand should children wish to display them (although I have to be honest Erin didn’t really use these). I have a few dolls from this line as well, however, I found the amount of unpleasant textures involved with them to be kind of a hindrance to my enjoyment of them.

It's about time toy manufacturers and retailers woke up and dragged themselves out of the dark ages. I was worried that brushing out the hair would be frustratingly time-consuming, but I actually found the process therapeutic. She also loves watching some of her fave YouTube families, especially videos that involve any kind of mini make over; creative make up creations or attempts at replicating new make up looks.When I first saw these dolls I thought they were cute, and the execution of the make-over gimmick immediately struck me as quite original and well-executed. The outfits are easy to take off and restyle, with the hands also clipping off to make this a bit easier for children to do unassisted. I mean, shoot, if you want to talk about commercialism and an overemphasis on fashion and looks being promoted by a doll line, we need only go back to good old Rainbow High. Not only are the ear holes sloppy, but the earring pegs are fragile and difficult to push into the ear.
