In a review of Fluxx in Black Gate, M Harold Page said "Playability-wise, the rules are on the cards themselves. The overall number of cards stayed the same at 84, but the ratio changed to the following: 21 Actions, 23 Goals, 18 Keepers, 21 New Rules, 1 Basic Rules card. Some Strategy Possible: Despite the simplicity of the game, there is the potential for strategy, particularly as you grow familiar with the goals, and thus can start planning for what card sets you're trying to build toward.

Doctor Who Fluxx takes the basic gameplay of Fluxx and merges it with multiple regenerations of the Doctor, various companions, Gallifreyan technology, K-9, Cybermen, Daleks, Weeping Angels, and the Master. Fluxx edition 4 was released in December 2008 and was the first set to have the Meta Rule subtype card, which stemmed from a Fluxx Tournament rule. The Basic Rules card back has had the flavor text replaced with a white-background Fluxx ® logo to distinguish it from normal cards in the deck. Overall, these cards are extremely intuitive, featuring some of the best card design I've seen in the field.Fluxx is a great game to have when you've got just a couple of minutes free or when when you're wanting very casual gameplay. There were a couple of other cards that changed, particularly the removal of two of the new Action cards that were added in 3. The game was successful and was licensed a year later to Iron Crown Enterprises (ICE) for wider distribution. The More Rules expansion includes 13 cards – 10 fun, lesser-seen New Rules, plus 3 Meta Rule cards; the More Actions expansion includes 10 powerful fan faves that will spice up any Fluxx game; and the More Surprises expansion includes 10 cards – the 4 original Surprises, 4 rarer ones, and 2 all-new cards.

The people I’ve played Fluxx with for the first time who have gotten the frenzied transmogrification that is the game have really enjoyed it. The octagon may hold any number of pawns while the keeper spaces can only have one with an incoming pawn pushing out the current pawn.

When I was a kid, some of my favorite gaming experiences involved playing Gin Rummy with my grandmother. Examples here are being able to draw the top card of the playing deck and playing it immediately as a free action, drawing four cards, playing all cards in your hand but one, or limiting the number of Keepers in front of you to four. With the continual change in winning conditions, cards in hand and cards that can be played, it can be a chaotic mess if you’re not open to the fickle whims of fate that I mentioned earlier. Overall, Fluxx is a pleasure to play and well-designed, so I give it a "4" out of "5" for Substance.

Full Baked was launched with expectation of a future release of a drinking variant and other mature subject versions. After playing cards and moving their pawns the required number, that player discards down to the Hand limit and play moves to the next player. The card may change the number of cards drawn or played per turn, the number of cards held per hand, or the Keepers played.
