Fleshlumpeater is a leader in the group of giants and confronts the BFG about leaving during the daytime. But the others will be whiffling off to all sorts of flungaway places like Wellington for the booty flavour and Panama for the hatty taste. The name suggests he likes to smash maidens, but it is never confirmed it could mean he smashes them with his teeth. An animated adaptation was released in 1989 with David Jason providing the voice of the BFG and Amanda Root as the voice of Sophie. The BFG yells at the Fleshlumpeater to put the soldier down, but the Fleshlumpeater pushes him away.

Along with all the other Giants, he is captured and bound somewhere in England, where he is fed only Snozzcumbers.

Even after being very cautious, Fleshlumpeater woke up and grabbed a soldier, laughing as he is preparing to eat him. That means,’ said Sophie, ‘that somewhere in the world, every single night, nine wretched people get carried away and eaten alive. Being the leader of the giants, Fleshlumpeater is also the one giant who poses a problem in the plan that the BFG and Sophie devise to capture them. Despite Roald Dahl having enjoined his publishers not to "so much as change a single comma in one of my books", in February 2023 Puffin Books, a division of Penguin Books, announced it would be re-writing portions of many of Dahl's children's novels, changing the language to, in the publisher's words, "ensure that it can continue to be enjoyed by all today.

Singh, Anita (7 August 2010) "Roald Dahl's secret notebook reveals heartbreak over daughter's death". They’d just be tiny specks of color, he’d have to squint to see the petals, and he certainly wouldn’t be able to smell their scent. He becomes friends with a girl named Sophie, and together they make sure the giants can't eat anyone else. For a few moments, the Big Friendly Giant stood quite still, and a look of absolute ecstasy began to spread over his long wrinkly face. While having the nightmare, he is yelling about the "spikesticking beanstalk" that Jack is using and Fleshlumpeater is squirming all over the ground like a "colossal tortured snake. Looking out of her window, she sees a mysterious Giant Man in the street, carrying a suitcase and a trumpet. Sophie: The imaginative, creative, nearsighted and kind-hearted protagonist of the story who becomes a brave international heroine.

He crunches up two humans for dinner every night and especially enjoys eating people from Turkey, making him the picky eater of the bunch, although he will go to other countries such as joining the other eight in a trip to England. Due to our size, we just see a gritty, coarse gray, all the colors blending together and cancelling out. Sophie takes off a brooch, or fancy pin that the Queen gave her, and sticks the pin into the giant's ankle as hard as she can. The second glimpse of the Fleshlumpeater's cowardice comes when Sophie and the BFG successfully catch the giants. They were simply COLOSSAL , far TALLER and WIDER than the Big Friendly Giant upon whose hand she was now sitting. She took that pin and "rammed" the entire three inches into the great hairy leg of the Fleshlumpeater's right ankle causing instant pain. Every country that the giants had visited in the past sends thanks and gifts to the BFG and Sophie, for whom residences are built in Windsor Great Park. A TV series based on The BFG is being developed as part of Netflix's "animated series event", based on Roald Dahl's books. Having collected the BFG's dream collection, the helicopters carry the giants back to England, where they are imprisoned in a massive pit. He then uses a long trumpet-like thing to blow the dreams through children’s windows to give them nice and happy dreams.

He explains that although most giants do eat humans, he does not because he is the Big Friendly Giant, or BFG; he had carried Sophie off merely so she would not reveal that she had seen a real giant, which would put him at risk of being captured for a zoo-exhibit. The BFG explains, in a unique and messy speech, that his nine neighbours are much bigger and stronger giants, who all happily eat humans every night. Despite looking disgusting and towering over even the BFG, Fleshlumpeater is not exempt from imperfections. The Fleshlumpeater: The leader of the nine man-eating giants and the largest and most horrible of the bunch. The BFG is a story about a girl, Sophie, who the BFG — Big Friendly Giant — steals out of her bed at the orphanage. The only other such longstanding partnership I can think of in English children’s literature is with author Jacqueline Wilson and Nick Sharratt. The giants were all naked except for a sort of short skirt around their waists, and their skins were burnt by the sun. Tourists come in huge numbers to watch the giants in the pit, who are only fed snozzcumbers; they receive an unexpected welcome snack when three drunks manage to climb the safety fence one night and fall in. In fact, his weakness is cowardice, especially when thinking about Jack, the character in the tale, Jack and the Beanstalk.
