About this deal

The Scientist then leads the game asking everyone to close their eyes before asking the murderer to point to one blue card and one red card in front of them.

Werewords A surprising direction for the Werewolf series, but it works This word game is a little like classic werewolf, but with a more esoteric goal. The chameleon must try to blend in, figuring out the hidden word while giving their own clue and avoiding being unmasked as a cold-blooded, fly-eating imposter. Deception: Murder in Hong Kong is a beautifully-designed board game - in terms of both art and gameplay - full of clever roles and interesting puzzle-solving. The FS will then place one bullet token onto a word on each of the tiles that best points to the cards that the murderer chose. This game can be a bit complex for casual gamers, but that just makes it more difficult to find out which player(s) is/are actually a government spy working to thwart the resistance. How much fun you will find in the box is entirely dependant on the group you play with, the more creative the better. Each investigator only gets one guess (handing in their badge in the process) and the murderer wins if nobody can guess both their means of murder and key evidence. As a starter game (or lower player counts) it tells you to only use the Forensic scientist, murderer and the investigators and that’s probably good advice.

Once all the clues have been placed the forensic scientist can replace one of the clue tiles with another drawn randomly from the stack. For instance, the Forensic Scientist might have to give a clue about the victims physical build, or what time of day the murder happened. Just FYI: the new aspects to Zoo Vadis (unique powers and peacocks) were added in (bolted on) by the good doctor himself. If you believe board game accessibility is important and can support our Patreon you'd be helping make sure the site can continue with this valuable work. These make subtle changes to the game, such as giving the forensic scientist more options, or asking players to flip over incorrect clue cards. The idea that you have one player that has perfect information but has limited communication is brilliant but the way they communicate is what really opens up the game.

They can still play an active part in the discussion, but can no longer make a formal attempt at solving the crime.

There’s that thrill as you nod to your newly-discovered team mate while the rest of the table have their eyes shut, that desperation as the net tightens and the finger of suspicion starts to point your way.
