About this deal

Deity has ensured that the VO-7U works natively on all major operating systems, with no drivers or software required. The arm can easily stand over a standard 27” monitor, or can comfortably sit on the side of a wide desk and reach to the middle. The capsule offers a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and can handle loud SPL levels up to 135 dB; the mic gain is adjustable and there's even a built-in analog limiter to prevent audio clipping. The VO-7U uses a supercardioid dynamic microphone capsule, making it well suited for use as a podcast and streamer microphone for untreated bedrooms or gaming stations. Featuring a USB connection, this mic connects directly to the computer without needing an external audio interface or mixer.

The deity VO-7U's built-in analog limiter effectively prevents audio clipping during gaming, live streaming, and conferences. But when I went and recorded with the HyperX SoloCast that I’ve been using forever, the SoloCast had a bit more mid-range presence in my opinion. Despite being on the cheaper feeling end, it has a large design that lends itself well to a variety of placement points. The Deity had a deep sound to it, but the HyperX was maybe a bit more clear thanks to that focused mid-range.

The new Deity VO-7U is a dynamic broadcast microphone aimed directly at streamers and podcasters with RGB lighting built-in and some other handy features up its sleeve.

As soon as you apply more than 50% gain to the VO-7U, the built-in hardware analog limiter kicks in to help prevent you from clipping on your stream or in your podcast. A word of advice for those new to these types of mics: the gain knob is very useful but also annoying if you don’t know how to compensate. So purchasing a dynamic microphone almost always will need to also purchase an interface like a Focusrite Scarlett Solo.

I just received the microphone the other day and haven’t yet played around with it, but once I do I will update this review further.

Built to last, the VO-7U is constructed with a durable all-metal body and features a floating friction pivot for precise positioning. One small nit pick I have with the microphone itself is that you have to turn the RGB lighting on manually every time you turn the computer back on. With a cardioid polar pattern, this mic is sensitive to direct sound and rejects noise from the sides and rear. It features a tight pickup pattern that allows it to reject room noise, so your audience hears only you. And with the built-in limiter, physical controls, and the inherent dynamic mic design, the Deity VO-7U is a great choice for podcasters, streamers, and other creators.

New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . There are plenty of options for podcasting and streaming on the VO-7U, and the VO-7U's built-in mic and headphone amps allow you to plug in hardware without a sound card. From what I gather, condenser mics can be plugged into a computer or camera directly without the need for an audio interface. It also features an RGB ring with 12 unique colors and effects so you can have it match your PC’s design aesthetic or your stream’s branded colors. The Astro A40 TR were fine for what they were but they fell short when I tried using them for anything more than gaming.
