About this deal

With an exciting, action packed ending, I cannot wait for more of the crows and whether the Fae and crows can learn to live together, but especially I need more Lore and Fallon, as she learns more truths about her origins and the prophecy. We have politics, a war, magic, multiple supernatural creatures and more… (and all of them were well done). With a richly imagined world, a dark and luscious story and characters that were brilliantly done, House of Beating Wings was a phenomenal start to a new series!

i think some more editing revisions could have tighten up the narrative and fixed the pacing issues in the places where it feels slow. Chociaż byli i tacy bohaterowie, którzy bez kawy potrafili mi mocno podnieść ciśnienie i rozbudzić, abym mogła czytać dalej do 3-4 w nocy.I didn't know which one would be the right choice for Fallon and I liked them both for different reasons. Also, I could have forgiven her stupidity if she at least had a good heart, but she's selfish and immature.

While I grew to love aspects of our FMC, Fallon, her obsession with the cringy Dante throughout the book even after she set out on her adventure with Mórrgaht was getting under my skin. It wasn’t a huge change but you could just tell, her energy by the end of the book was just different, stronger. And I don’t even wanna touch on the whole love triangle situation because it infuriated me like nothing else I have ever experienced. Fallon's world becomes a whole lot bigger when she is presented with the opportunity to find and collect iron crows to overthrow the current monarch (Dante's unlikeable brother) and crown Dante as King of Luce- while also ensuring a throne for herself.

I loved Fallon too, she's strong, feisty, not afraid to stand up and speak, even when its probably best not to, but that's her all over. Excerpts and links may be used, provided full and clear credit is given to Shannon Holmes (MediaShadowReads) with appropriate and specific direction to the original content. I can only assume the narrator is an American attempting a British accent because my goodness there’s at least one mispronounciation per paragraph. I love most things fae related so was fairly hopeful going into it in the first place and it didn’t disappoint. It was fairly obvious how that particular relationship would play with the amount of read flags flying around so I wasn’t surprised when I was proven right, but dear Fallon was still defending his honour until the last second. Overall, the interesting world and fast-paced plot definitely carried this book considering the main character was bleghhh and the romance isn’t doing anything for me right now.

It starts with our main lead Fallon and a prophecy which sees her on the throne as Queen but first has to free 5 crows. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The story took me somewhere that had my pulse pounding, I beyond ecstatic and it was absolutely genius! Although our FMC was kind of obsessed over another guy in 60% of the book, which was confusing AF at the time. She gives as much thought into becoming queen as I do when someone offers me a flyer on the street; I mindlessly take it and just keep walking.I've always loved the fantasy genre since I was very young, but not many authors can bring a whole new, different world to life combining it's differing cultures, laws and history, with magic, prophecy and a new language with so much depth, that I can see it clearly as I read. I was lowkey just waiting for the MC to catch up with what I assume most readers had already suspected from the start.
