We learn of Tabby's shocking time at home with her Mum's boyfriend, and we are pulled into the terrible scandal and following publicity when Arthur and Emily's affair is uncovered. I thought it was going to be your average kind of chick lit but it actually had an excellent plot with a great twist that I didn't see coming. You want to find out what is going to happen at the end, but nothing happens too quickly or all at once which I really did enjoy. Though they’ve worked in the industry for a decade, as VFX artist and designer respectively, Jay Stephen and Ralph Briscoe only launched themselves as directorial duo The Romantix a year ago.

For Dody, gathering clues from a body is often easier than handling the living—especially Chief Detective Inspector Pike. I picked it up again in mid-March, and it took off with a bang, though not a literal one (no one gets shot in this book, and that's not a spoiler). The number of times I have gotten myself into a pickle and, solely thanks to the brilliance of others, have managed to extract myself is extraordinary. So I’m off now to try and sort out a new home for these extra additions and I’ve decided that since I have so many books on the TBR I really need to catalogue them! Having thoroughly enjoyed The Sudden Departure of the Frasers which was published by this author earlier this year, I was thrilled to find that there was a back-catalogue to explore with high-praise being bestowed on this book. My real complaint is that by doing so, she completely lost focus on building a decent plot, killed the mystery with the "big reveal" that wasn't a reveal at all, and stole five hours of my life.

Prior to joining Leo’s, Emily was head of development at MJZ, helping the multi award winning production company to expand into new formats and content, including building their drama and comedy slate. It's okay if you're sad and self-obsessed, apparently, and if their wives are middle-aged, as all middle-aged women are jealous, insecure, and vindictive nags. This is a long novel of adultery, the media circus, the need to vanish and reinvent oneself and a couple of twisty reveals which left me open mouthed and eager to read on.Some want to make huge kick ass TV spots whilst others want to access the metaverse and I think that’s the nature of the beast.

This offered the most interesting aspect of this novel, the villification that women can face in the press, misogyny underlining what is and isn't considered "acceptable" behaviour for a woman, and how women pit themselves against each other in the wake of a man's actions. Emily has also spent time in production roles at Grey and BBH after having started her advertising career at Leo Burnett. If you read the author's notes you'll see that she invites readers to contact her so that can tell you what sort of ending she's thought up for the characters. At Leo’s she will work to create more diverse productions, new experiences for our clients, and bring in new talent to the agency. The Disappearance of Emily Marr was officially my first taste at Louise Candlish's writing and I absolutely loved every second of it.It has been optioned for TV by Death in Paradise producers Red Planet Pictures, and was picked as a Book of the Year 2018 by the Washington Post, Publishers Weekly, Real Simple, the Guardian, the Daily Mail, the Sunday Express, Red and Heat. That will also potentially inform the future shape of the industry and it’s always exciting to be on the ground floor of something like that. I was quite cautious about joining a new team remotely, but immediately got a great vibe from everyone. So if you spot this story for sale second-hand, you might like to check quickly that it has an epilogue! This leads her to meet Arthur, a married neighbour, who feels isolated in a marriage he hasn’t wanted to be in for 20 years, finding solace in working all hours under the sun.
