About this deal

However, there are already plenty of Wi-Fi 6 meshes to choose from: does the Eero 6 stand out from the crowd, or is it a case of wireless meh? Helpfully, the adapters have pass-through sockets in them so you can still plug other gadgets in as well. It gives you extra features on the eero app, making it super easy to manage your Wi-Fi and keep you and your family safe online. A mesh built on the faster tri-band Eero Pro will keep up a bit better but still won't be a great fit. It's the easiest way to set up your router, manage settings like parental controls and get the most out of your Wi-Fi, all from your mobile phone.

Like with Google’s devices, the app can simply tell you if you need to move one of the discs nearer for it to work properly. I have a Eero 6 router unit that connects to my main Vodafone router via Ethernet, the other side of the room I have a Eero 6 extender then across the hall in my room I have another Eero 6 extende, and the last is at the back of the house in my man cave, which is the same as my “main Eero” , being connected through the house via ethernet. The extenders are the ones you’ll dot around your home after you’ve finished setting up the router, allowing you to extend coverage to those parts of your home where better Wi-Fi coverage is needed. The switchover would happen naturally after a minute or so, but if you’re a little impatient like I am, you’ll find it’s faster to simply disengage Wi-Fi on your phone, and turn it back on – your device will then connect to the nearest access point. It sends that signal to other eero devices around your home to create your mesh Wi-Fi network and deliver whole home coverage.

Profiles can then be assigned to any device, although each device can only have a single profile applied to it. The lack of Ethernet ports on the extenders means this isn’t suitable for everyone, and if you do need those, have a look at the Linksys Atlas 6 system. And rather than directly connecting the unit to my iPad, I can still use “network mode” because there will be a decent signal coming from the kitchen. There are two distinct elements: the router (which connects by cable to your internet provider’s router) and the wifi point which spreads the signal. You just need to plug the nighthawk in where the signal from your router can reach it, and after that it offers a wide area of connectivity.

eero Max 7 has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission (“FCC”). These days, Thomas mainly, but not exclusively, tests home networking devices and security software for Tech Advisor. You then plug in your other eero devices in your home and use the eero app to get them all set up and working together, giving you strong Wi-Fi signal in minutes. If you want to use a wired connection for your TV set-top boxes, games consoles, desktop PCs, NAS drives and the like, you’ll need to consider getting an Ethernet bridge too – or pick up a mesh Wi-Fi system that gives you more ports. Existing eero Plus subscribers: If the eero account first used to set-up an Offer Device has an existing eero Plus subscription on the date of set-up (including any free trial period), then the existing subscription will continue until the next renewal billing date that is at least 24 hours after such set-up date, at which point the Offer Service plan will start. The more expensive Plus option used to throw in extras like an account for password manager service 1Password, the Encrypt. The stronger signal gives you faster internet speeds and reduces the dropped connections, and multiple extenders can be linked together to cover even more of your home.
