About this deal

She has illustrated bestselling Noisy Noisy series for Ladybird Books and, with author Giles Andreae, won a Book Trust Early Years Award in 2010 for I Love My Mummy. Evie is a self-sufficient, bright 3-year-old, adjusting to losing her mum and occasionally acting out in a way preschoolers, especially ones who've suffered a great loss, do. I never knew, for example, that Napoleon lost at Waterloo because his infantry lacked a few dozen nails.

I felt uncomfortable giving this book a false promise title so landed on Little Things because I believe it’s the small changes we can make, and the little adjustments we can try that make a big difference. The RA is a unique institution, an independent charity with a mission to be a clear, strong voice for art and artists, where art is made, exhibited and debated. The idea that is presented feels a bit scattered for the most part but the message really shines through in some chapters. He insinuates that really you need to have a full belief in God or you can't make lasting change or really be a good person. Most things in the world around us have poems hidden in them waiting to be revealed if we have the will to pay attention and see them with the heart.

For example, Andrews shares the story about how explorers Lewis’s and Clark lost few soldiers because he brought along an air rifle which he would demonstrate for the Native Americans he would meet. Though we didn’t get his name I was holding out hope HE would turn into Liam and I was so happy when it happened. The Little Things celebrates the joy and comfort to be found in life’s simple moments, whether it’s spitting cherry pips or bubbly baths on rainy nights.

I would have loved more time with Joel and Liam as a couple, but the epilogue provided nice closure to this sweet story. The advantage in any arena of life is earned far in advance of the moment when its required to perform. Featuring new work from Alfian Sa’at, Christine Chia and Yong Shu Hoong, Some Say, A Tapir recaptures the year 1299 of Singapore’s history.

After yet again encountering Liam, Joel comes to the realization that he and Dan really weren't meant to be and ends things. Andrews books always contain light hearted reading, that often can have a deep impact when properly understood. We become more capable, more competent, wiser as we overcome obstacles that until recently were considered insurmountable. They have found a man of craggy determination with commitment to his painting like a rock at the centre of his being. But the centre piece of this new book is the stunning and original nine block The Little Things of Life Quilt. So having a narrator who has or can do a British accent for me is always a plus because it just adds to the setting and this narrator has a wonderful accent.
