About this deal

It doesn’t matter which tool combination you have on the end of the Henry, you’ll always get impressive suction providing you’ve not filled its bag. Talking of bag filling, our machine typically gets at least a month of regular use in our large family home before it needs changing. The combination brush head is wheeled and features an adjustable brush section. - Oli Woodman / Our Media I measure the raw power of all vacuum cleaners in AirWatts, which is a combination of airflow and suction power. This is a true measurement of power that lets us compare the performance of different models. A true design icon, the Numatic Henry is a vacuum cleaner that’s loved by thousands – including professional cleaners. And all for good reason: it offers a large capacity, it’s well priced, it cleans well, and has a reputation for lasting forever. Here on review I have the latest version of the Numatic Henry. It doesn’t stray too far from previous models, but has been designed to meet vacuum cleaner power limits. At 7.5kg including its kit, the Henry is far from the lightest vacuum to lift but the HVR 160-11 itself doesn’t take up much cupboard space, though those with a tight storage area may have to disassemble the hoover’s wand though and the tight fitting components can be a little frustrating to take apart once assembled. Spares are readily available and it’s possible to buy all manner of tool kits to either replenish or kit out Henry for more specific cleaning duties. How quiet is the Henry HVR 160-11?

Henry performs extremely well in the areas the vacuum is designed to work best. That means low-pile carpet, especially the sort of hardwearing carpet tiles you’ll find in shops and offices, and hard floors. While this setup works well enough, experience has taught me that the various sections of the pole can become stiff and difficult to pull apart over time. To avoid this, I recommend pulling them apart at the end of each clean, and loosely rejoining them for storage. We’ve got every reason to believe them and have personal experience of Henry vacuums going on for decades.

It’d be easy to underestimate a cleaner with such charming looks, but rest assured the Henry HVR 160-11 offers serious suction. The 620w motor might not sound like a lot, but this vacuum offers suction that’s up there with the best in its class. Find out why Henry HVR 160-11 Bagged Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner scored an incredible review score of 9.5 out of 10.Henry is far from loud in comparison to some other vacuums I’ve reviewed. My noise meter recorded a maximum 78dB, which is more than acceptable. Cleaning and maintenance The next step was to try and narrow down our search even more. So we’ve already looked the prices of products in the Vacuum cleaners category. Then we’ve also looked at the prices of products from Henry. So this step combines the two and looks specifically at the price you’d expect to pay for Henry branded products in the Vacuum cleaners category.

I measured the Henry at 408AW, which makes it one of the most powerful vacuum cleaners I’ve tested; even more powerful than the Stihl SE 33 wet and dry cleaner. Opening the air valve fully only reduces power to 314AW, which is far more power than most of the competition. The HVR 160-11 has a short wheelbase and four free rolling wheels, which makes it a fairly agile machine to move around when guided by its hose. That short wheelbase makes it possible to balance the Henry on certain deeper stairs but this is a sketchy activity that we’d advise against. Four wheels and a short wheelbase mean the Henry is easily led around the home. - Oli Woodman / Our MediaHenry doesn’t really have a handle, let alone a posh comfy padded handle. You can kind of hold the wand anywhere that feels comfortable to you depending on the task at hand. And I found it comfortable to use no matter what I was vacuuming. Similarly, the wand isn’t telescopic, but you can remove sections to make it shorter and it has a great reach under furniture. Henry came with one bag inside and a spare in the box, so you don’t have to worry about buying bags for the first few months. And on top, there’s a flip up carry handle that makes transporting him up and down stairs effortless. It is possible to use a Henry vacuum cleaner without a bag and instead fill its tub directly though this is something that is hard on the vacuum's filter and ultimately its motor and should be avoided. Without a bag you can see just how simple the Henry's design is. - Oli Woodman / Our Media How good at cleaning is the Henry HVR 160-11? Just before we get into the detail of analysing the price of this product, we want to briefly highlight the importance of setting yourself a budget before you spend too much time shopping around for a suitable product. It’s all too often that we get carried away when shopping and find ourselves buying a fantastic product, but probably actually overdelivers on what we need and therefore costs a lot more than we should have spent. So spend a bit of time looking around at the sort of price you can expect to pay for products in the Vacuum cleaners category and use that alongside your own financial situation to set yourself a budget. The brand of product you buy can vary in importance, from person to person. Some people will of course be much more particular about the brands they will use. Whilst others aren’t interested in the brand and are more interested in the overall quality or price of the product itself. Thankfully Henry is a brand that many customers have grown to love over the years and is very popular for items in the Vacuum cleaners category.
