About this deal

Wilma, Wally's friend first appeared in the Ultimate Fun Book, and was replaced by her identical twin sister Wenda in the Where's Waldo: The Magnificent Poster Book. The books became extremely popular and were localised for many different territories, with name changes for Wally in certain regions. The franchise also spawned other media in a more storyline-based form, including a 1991 television series, Where's Wally?, a comic strip, Where's Wally? and a series of video games. Wilma, Wally's friend first appeared in the Ultimate Fun Book, and was replaced by her identical twin sister Wenda in the Where's Wally: The Magnificent Poster Book. Several video games based off of the Where's Waldo? franchise have been made in the past. They include Where's Waldo?, Where's Waldo at the Circus, Where's Waldo?: Exploring Geography, and The Great Waldo Search. The only other one that was made by Ludia would be Where's Waldo?: In Hollywood.

In November 2011, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Classic Media announced a live-action film based on the Where's Wally? series. [13] Screenwriter Todd Berger has been hired to write the story for the film, which was slated to be released in the summer of 2015. [14] In March 2016, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were in talks to produce the film with their producing partner James Weaver and Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir to write the film, under their Point Grey Pictures banner. [15]

s The Wonder Book was the last numbered book in the series to contain new, original scenes, as The Great Picture Hunt and The Incredible Paper Chase contain both new scenes and older ones from The Ultimate Fun Book and The Magnificent Poster Book, as these books are no longer in print. The book introduces "The Land of Wallies" and the concept that Wally is just one of many Wallies. The Land of Wallys would reappear in The Ultimate Fun Book (known as WallyLand) and The Great Picture Hunt (known as WallyWorld). It would later be shown that Woof and Odlaw also come from worlds of many others like them with the introduction of "The Odlaw Swamp" and "The Land of Woofs" in Where's Wally?: The Wonder Book. When Handford first designed his leading man, he named him Wally - a shortened formed of Walter or Wallace but commonly used in Britain as a slang term for a somewhat spacey person. However the American publishers of the books felt the name would not resonate with the North American readers; so when the book was finally published there in 1987, the character was renamed Waldo (different name changes worldwide were made in other countries, such as Charlie for France and Walter for Germany, see the table below). I remember looking for Waldo with my mom and dad as a young kid, pouring over the book for hours. Now that I'm older and have my own kids, I can say with full confidence that this is the type of book that never gets old. It's still fun and becomes even more so when introducing it to a younger generation.

Ehon no Kuni no Daibouken (1993) ( Super Famicom) (Japan-exclusive title published by Tomy) I read this book with my 5-year-old daughter several times and she thoroughly enjoyed finding the clues. They weren't overly difficult for her, but still challenging enough to keep her (and me!) attentive and searching over and over. The only puzzle we encountered difficulty was with The Land of Waldos, the last story in the book. The goal was to find him amongst hundreds of look-a-likes AND find his missing shoe. We did find his shoe, but Waldo himself eludes us constantly! This is a classic book which can either be thought of as a book without a plot, or one with many. His name was also changed in many other countries outside of Britain, though in several cases the name Wally was retained.
