To be honest I had never thought about a degree or attending university. Following my apprenticeship, I successfully gained a permanent contract as a Laboratory Technician at the company’s Microbiology Laboratory, I went on to complete NVQ Level 4 LATA. In 2011 Feedwater gave me the opportunity to enrol on a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Open University degree, this was achieved over 6 years, part-time study whilst working in the laboratory and was completed in 2017. First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Avon Books, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. A young woman is found badly beaten in a river, she has no memory of what has happened to her or her name. A man’s body is found nearby and the police duo try to work out if the two of them are connected in any way. In 1906, Japanese novelist Natsume Sōseki called the painting "a thing of considerable beauty" in Kusamakura (novel); since then, the painting has been highly popular in Japan. It was exhibited in Tokyo in 1998 and travelled there again in 2008.

A 2014 report by the International Water Association found that 15 developing countries were understaffed in the management, accounting, finance, and engineering professions. This report concluded that when women filled these vacancies, they demonstrated their potential as managers, finance professionals, collection specialists, water engineers and marketers of a product they know well due to the fact that they are mainly the ones in charge of its administration in the family nucleus and relate it to other aspects such as safety, time optimization, economic savings and future forecasts. Conclusions about the role of women in this sector that had already been proven in the first world 20 years ago, and that are being repeated again. Secher, Benjamin. " Ten things you never knew about Ophelia". The Daily Telegraph, 22 September 2007. Retrieved on 6 March 2012. The Society is striving to improve on these statistics, to focus on gender equity and to be a role model for its membership. The difference between equality and equity is small but important. International Women’s Day’s hashtag is #EmbraceEquity and they state that “Equity isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s a must-have. A focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society’s DNA and it’s critical to understand the difference between equity and equality.” 3

Women in Water: Empower, Attract and Retain

The work encountered a mixed response when first exhibited at the Royal Academy, but has since come to be admired as one of the most important works of the mid-nineteenth century for its beauty, its accurate depiction of a natural landscape, and its influence on artists from John William Waterhouse and Salvador Dalí to Peter Blake, Ed Ruscha and Friedrich Heyser. In the midst of everything is the relationship between Adrian and Imogen. They are partners, they are best friends and now they are lovers. But it is still secret. Or is it? It seems more than one person has cottoned on to thei "not-so-secret" relationship, so what does this mean for their partnership? Even more so, what does this for their relationship? I did get a little irritated with Imogen constantly second guessing and questioning their relationship. It just seemed to go in circles and never go anywhere. It was a little annoying. But on the other hand, I wish Adrian would confide in Imogen. I really don't see why he doesn't. I know I'm not a man and don't think like they do, but doesn't it go without saying? Especially when they resolved to keep no secrets from each other. Three decades later, the world is still far from achieving gender equality in water and sanitation. The challenges that women were facing then with regard to water use, collection and management are now exacerbated by the consequences of climate change. Around the world, women and girls are more often responsible for collection and management of water in the household. According to a UN Women study based on data from 61 countries, in 80% of water-deprived households, women and girls carry the burden of water collection. [2] As water scarcity, heatwaves and droughts become more widespread, women and girls find themselves walking greater distances to fetch water. In many cases, this can affect girls’ chances of being enrolled in school as studies have shown that a one-hour time reduction in water collection can increase the rate of girls’ school enrolment. [3] The report cites that gender gaps in the workforce are driven and affected by many factors and globally social expectations, employer policies, the legal environment and the availability of care continue to play an important role in the choice of education and careers. We see women as the primary caregivers within families and this group was adversely affected by the 2008 Global Financial Crisis.

It is incredibly dark and violent. This book series really isn't for the faint hearted because of the potentially triggering subject matter. They are definitely not thrillers that I recommend to everyone but if you can handle a dark messed up book, this series is a great read. billion people still do not have drinking water on-premises, and in two out of three households, women are primarily responsible for water collection. ( WHO/UNICEF, 2023) The list of speakers ranges from younger to senior women professionals working in different areas of the water sector in Central and South America, providing their experience, insights and suggestions to empower, attract and retain more women in water. The webinar will be moderated by Diana Ulloa and Norhayati Abdullah. Diana Ulloa works as a consultant and part of the Coordinating Group of Red Agua Ecuador, she is also a member of the Governing Council of IWA Ecuador. Norhayati is Associate Director at the UTM International, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Katerina Diamond is certainly an author that doesn’t shirk from horrific details in her thrillers. She is bold with vivid images of violence and one scene, in particular, affects one of the detectives and was extremely disturbing. This incident, with the physical and psychological repercussions, defines a significant theme for the majority of the novel. While the narrative is disturbing, it is compelling reading and it was a brave call to introduce this aspect to a main character’s makeup as we will progress through the series. I found myself wishing the incident didn’t happen but recognising that Katerina had totally drawn me into her story and the empathy I’ve developed for Adrian and Imogen. I decided the office environment was no longer for me and wanted to venture out into the field, where I could implement my skills and help others learn from what I had done in the past.
