You just wish there were more takeaways from this. There are the dreamy Ash songs like Low Ebb and Folk Song that are mildly pretty. Burn Out too, is a teaser of the yearning melancholy that Ash are usually so good at. But they’ve done this sort of thing so much better throughout their career. Oasis Оуэн Моррис. Yet it is the mellower songs such as “Burn Out,” “Folk Song,” “Aphrodite” and the quite beautiful album closer “I’m Gonna Fall” that show that Ash are at their best when they don’t try to overcomplicate their sound and let their natural tunesmith tendencies play out.
