About this deal

Test Leads Upgrade: Silicone test leads with gold-plated tips with screw-on banana plugs (BL21S2-T4SC). The 789 has a ton of functionality and it seems very accurate and given Joe's tests I'm confident it is a very safe and reliable meter. The Fluke 179 is not as feature rich as the 789 but it has earned my confidence over nearly 20 years in terms of safety, reliability, and accuracy. The 789 has more resolution as well as more functionality, but the 179 has enough resolution for almost any likely task given to a handheld DMM. What the 179 gives up in resolution and functionality it makes up for with it's simple/clean dial interface. Additional measurements include temperature, frequency, capacitance, resistance, continuity and diode measurements. Whether you're a professional electrician or engineer, you know someone who is an electrician, or you just enjoy having gadgets around the house to help you assess and solve electrical problems with your appliances, then a multimeter is an integral tool to include in your arsenal.

But Uni-T has questionable quality and safety, so people are willing to pay more to get something better. Fast forward to BM789. Quality, safety, same as Fluke, proven fact. Price for a new one: you can buy two for the price of F87V, an some leftover money. It's shortcoming: they can measure MORE . That is BAD ... And my mind starts to bend.. Also referred to as a VOM (volt-ohm meter or volt-ohm-milliammeter), a multimeter is an all-in-one instrument that is capable of measuring several properties of an electrical circuit, mainly voltage ( volts), current ( amps), and resistance ( ohms). Multimeters are available in either analog or digital types and are often designed for handheld use. An analog multimeter leverages the use of both a microammeter and moving pointer to display its readings. The microammeter is simply an instrument that measures small electrical currents.Transfer Multisort Elektronik sp. z o.o., ul. Ustronna 41, 93-350 Łódź hereby informs you that it will be the controller of your personal data. Brymen and Dave Jones have seen to it that the EEVBlog Brymen BM235 is a solid tester with great ergonomics to go with its looks. It is nice to the touch and comes with a tilting bail (albeit an unsteady one) built into the rear. The batteries and fuses are accessed via the removal of a single panel with single screw.

Top quality fuses protect the current circuits. The µA/mA input has a 400mA fuse and the 10A input a chunky, 38mm 11A fuse. Both are quality, HRC type. Being a UL-stamped meter, the BM235 has been tested independently and had its safety rating verified, to CAT-III @ 600V and CAT-IV @ 300V. Invented in 1820, the galvanometer was the first moving-pointer, current-detecting device used to measure voltage and resistance with a Wheatstone bridge. However, the galvanometer was considered to be too slow and too delicate. I'm sure you did it right. I guess the "~Hz Line level frequency" figures on BM789 datasheet should be simply interpreted as "V RMS sensitivity" for the given sine frequency range, not as upper frequency limits for sinewaves. What was the rms voltage you applied to get a correct frequency reading of 1 MHz?

The fuses on the Greenlee DM-510A are high end, high rupture capacity. While expensive, they protect the meter and user should there be a catastrophic internal failure. These are easily replaced by removing the rear battery cover. Modes: The EEVBlog BM235 is a manual and auto ranging multimeter, defaulting to auto. It also comes with Max/Min/Avg recording mode, which lets you see the high, low and average values of a given signal. With relative mode, you can set a reference to compare values, as well as zero out test lead resistance. SPECS RANGE For now it works good and fast. Leads are supple and look like silicone. Feels good and more expensive in hand. Seems to be accurate. I say seems to be accurate while I have compared it with limited number of meters.

There are several notable functions and modes on the BM257. Chief among these are the Max/Min and the CREST (peak) hold functions. The Max/Min will retain the high and low values of a signal, while peak hold is extremely fast acting (5ms) and can capture spikes. Unfortunately, standard screen hold is manual only.By contrast, a digital multimeter (also known as a DMM or DVOM) features an easy-to-read numeric display that may also include a graphical bar representing the measured values. Because digital multimeters offer an increased level of accuracy and precision, they have become more common than their analog counterparts. However, analog multimeters are still useful, particularly if you're concerned about a rapidly-changing measurement that is more easily visualized using the analog display and pointer. Current measuring capacity is, curiously, not as high as that of the BM235, although you can measure up to 15A in 15-second bursts, while the micro-amps range allows you to test delicate electronics and flame sensors.
