Used as a router with another modem, its still a router. The basic principle is the Internet is broken up into smaller subnets and a router passes IP traffic between different subnets, because they can't see each other directly but know from the routing table which gateway is connected to which subnet. Without that there would be no way to know which pipe to send any given traffic down to reach its destination. What I can comment on is the speeds detected using the WiFi Speed Test Pro app on a pair of Android phones – a Huawei Mate 10 Pro and a The Router needs 12v 1.5amps, whereas the power lead I have for the AVM FRITZ!Box 7590 is 12v 2.5amps. The random plugs I have around the house that are 12v 1.5amps didn’t fit this Router. Features / Mesh The FRITZ!Box 7530 AX is one of the first WiFi 6 routers from AVM FRITZ!Box. Its dual-band technology isn’t top-of-the-range, but it clearly outperformed our aging BT router, with devices in the same room achieving a connection speed of 398Mbps compared to 100Mbps with the BT router. Bridge mode’ means setting a router up to disable its routing function so it becomes a simple bridge and copies stuff between its two interfaces It's great to have so many options and the FRITZ!Box 7590 offers more than you could ever truly need. A spokesman for AVM told us that this was due to technical restrictions imposed by Apple itself, but we’ve seen plenty of other routers that were able to include those features in their iOS apps. All of those features plus world-beating performance might have been too much to ask, and so it proved, as the FRITZ!Box 7590 didn't blow away our performance tests.

4 Connecting a different device to the FRITZ!Box

The FRITZ!Box 7530 AX includes a telephone system for modern IP-based connections. With DECT you can create a telephone system with up to six cordless phones. There are also ports for connecting your analog telephone or fax machine. Multiple answering machines, online telephone books and numerous convenience features make phone calls via the FRITZ!Box 7530 AX a joy.
