She Swifty Seek’s (this movie’s Google) Louisa’s name and looks at her social media accounts and talks to herself about how crazy Louisa is. (Added in post with terrible voice over.) Then Katie finds the camera in her house. She sneaks over to Louisa’s house (like on her tippy toes) and finds a laptop in the bedroom dresser. The laptop contains footage of Louisa setting up the cameras, she is the hooded figure. It also has footage of the night of the murder that would be Dan’s alibi. The FMC and MMC character voices were nearly indistinguishable from each other. For the majority of the book it very much reads like the author's musings instead of unique internal dialogue. I didn't hate the plot and the last act intrigued me enough that I will be reading the next book. I really thought this book would be a 4 or 5 star review for me because I found the plot and writing engaging and interesting. About the Characters: The characters in this book were incredibly diverse and very colorful. Some of them were quirky and cute, while others came across as annoyingly toadish. While reading, there were multiple times when I came to realize that the most wonderful characters (who had fooled me into believing their innate goodness) were just downright not so, and the most peculiar characters (who I was getting weirdo vibes from) were the most charming. Esme ends up next door to Elliot and his new girlfriend Morgan, 4 years later, and Esme has started a gallery business with a friend called David and everyone thinks they’re dating.

I don’t even want to talk about logic in this story because I don’t think there was any. I don’t think Esme’s envy of any character having a good day was logical; I don’t think her blaming everything that happened on Elliot was logical; and I definitely don’t think David overlooking all of that and still choosing to be with her in the end was in any way logical at all.Katie keeps trying to introduce Louisa to Dan, but things keep coming up. Also, Louise won’t let Katie into her house. Meanwhile, Geena and Elise get into an altercation in the woods. Geena continues to pressure Elise on her feeling about Lee. She is paranoid that her husband is still in love with Elise. Hot Chocolate Holiday' Review: Conflicts over recipe and love in air When will 'Deadly Ex Next Door' release and where to watch it?

Can you tell me a little bit about that one?’ David pointed to the contorted, sleeping figure in Douglas’s hands. ‘Does it have a title?’ ‘It’s Father,’ Douglas replied, now smiling broadly, delighted by David’s interest and ongoing approval. ‘And he’s dead, by the way, Esme,’ he added softly. I looked up at him. ‘Who’s dead?’ ‘Father. You thought he was sleeping, but he’s dead.’ ‘Oh…’ Add in family drama, a potential new boyfriend, threats, and life changing secrets it was a decent story. I really enjoyed the side characters and their subplots. I thought that each character was hilarious in their own way and I was interested in their little lives. I also enjoyed the resolution of the story, along with seeing Esme's personal growth. It was very satisfying to read her understanding her revelations. That being said, there are some things that made my review waver.

Is Deadly Ex Next Door Based on a True Story?

The Hunters seem to be a continuing thread throughout the books. Each book brings the mystery closer to being solved. While Steff and April finally work things out between them, the story continues. One of the things that captured my attention about this lovely book was the book title and the book cover. (I'm counting them as one, of course.) The title snagged my interest simply because of what it implies. I was immediately considering all sorts of romantic formulas based on the "perfect title." The cover seemed so playful and fun; it was lighthearted, even. I just knew, based on the cover, that this book would be special. Katie Gatewood’s love for her husband Dan is put to the test when Dan’s obsessed ex-girlfriend Louisa moves into the house next door, intending to drive the happy couple apart by any means necessary. Okay so you have Elliot and Esme who have dated for 3 years but split due to Esme thinking hes messing around with a colleague (and hes gaslighting her. I think he gaslit me too because i thought she was just being insecure and jealous by the way the plot was written) What is it with Elliot? He dosnt want to lose Morgan but cant force himself to release Esme. Why oh why Esme still thinking the possible of reconcile? Did she not thinking Eliot will do the same thing to her too? Double red flagss Grrr..

And also… about 46% of the book… was anybody else freaking out??? Have I been watching/reading too much suspense?? I don't know if I am being overly sensitive regarding the topic of abortion with all the political bullshit going on right now, but the scene where Kellan (the brother) bad mouths the mother of his child left me feeling fairly pissed off. Katie has a dinner party while Louisa makes some more carpet cleaner smoothie and then arrives fashionably late. While Dan is doing the dishes Louisa caresses him from behind. Katie catches them and assumes her husband is cheating. Katie leaves and goes to stay with her friend. (who is pointless in this movie.) Dan is left by himself with Louisa, he slams the door in her face. About the Conclusion: At the end of the day, this story was about life, love, relationships, growth, and finding personal truths. Esme learned who she really was and discovered what she really wanted. Elliot showed his true colors. David became brave. And still, there was more.My Review: The Ex Next Door by Jo Platt was a subtle nod to a topsy turvy romance. This Women's Fiction book was so different than I expected. The love story that was really happening didn't become evident until it was right in my face. Initial Reaction: I was glued to my seat for this one. The more I kept reading, the more I needed to know what was truly going on. I dare say, the author kept me guessing during the majority of the book. I wanted to DNF this book from the halfway point, all the way through to the end. I just think so much of it was unhealthy and toxic. I was genuinely hate-reading this story. Katie takes Louisa to the golf club and brings up the whole dating her husband thing. Louisa tells Katie that it was nothing, but is clearly jealous. She goes home and cries in a bubble bath while holding a picture of her and Dan at a New Years event? To prove she is over Dan, or not. Louisa hires a male escort to pretend to be her boyfriend. With five minutes left in the movie, Dan is released from prison. The police issue a warrant for Louisa’s arrest, but the can’ find her. Katie finds her in her bedroom. They struggle and Katie pushes Louisa down the stairs. The police and Dan arrive. I guess Louisa died??? Oh wait, no she is in jail refusing to color.

At first, I wasn't loving this book. Though the writing style immediately gripped me, the romance was slowly losing my interest. There was barely any interaction with the "ex," whom I thought was the love interest for a good chunk of the book. As the story progressed, I began to hate the "ex" more and more, finding him to be the most insufferable, flattest love interest of all time. Turns out, I was looking in the wrong place because he was NOT the story's major love interest. When I say I gasped!!!! Platt played me successfully, and I totally should've seen it coming. I had theories, but I second-guessed myself for most of the book. Turns out, my favorite male character of the book is the love interest! Platt wrote the romance in such an interesting way, that I thought for sure Megan and David would end up together. However, when the MC began to realize her feelings for David, I squealed with joy. The seeds had been there all along and it made perfect sense. I absolutely LOVED the last 25% of the book--including the resolution. It was a such a fantastic "switcheroo," and turned the story into a beautiful "friends to lover" romance, rather than a "second chance" romance like I immediately thought. (I went in blind!). The pointless friend, turns out the be the pointless sister, gets in a car accident while driving Katie’s car. The police think a hit was taken out on Katie and someone is trying to kill her. (The find traces of poison in her dishes.) Katie demands to see her husband. He tells Katie that Louisa is obsessed with Dan. (Just like her.) Katie promises to figure it out, some way/somehow. See with your heart versus with your eyes. (When it comes to relationships, we can often fool ourselves into seeing what we want to see when we focus on the superficial.)The direction the story took was another thing I loved. I would never have guessed what was going on if I hadn't seen it (read it) for myself. (Good one, Ms. Platt. Score!) The surprise that shall not be mentioned - the unexpected twist - was both brilliant and sweet.
