The idea of discipline (or pruning) isn't always pleasant; it hurts to have our self-centered wills thwarted. Yet this is really an encouraging word. God disciplines (or prunes us) so that we may share in ________________________________________. This discipline produces a _________________ ___________________________________________________ for those who have been trained by it. Another Kind of Fruit And so, finally, when the love of God has filled us with hope in the glory of God, we rejoice in that hope, and again I say to you, REJOICE! Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on their heads. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in languages they didn't know, for the Holy Spirit gave them this ability." I find myself wanting to speak those same words of comfort to Aglow around the world. We are promised turbulence, wars, famines, earthquakes, nations rising against nations – Jesus said that He has overcome it all! Keep following Holy Spirit. The Lord will supply. And we will continually overcome the accuser by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. Rev. 12:11 All Creation Groans At Pentecost, the prophet's words were first fulfilled when the disciples and followers of Jesus, 120 in all, received the outpouring and empowering of the Holy Spirit.

This scripture tells us that the Lord prunes those branches (or areas in our lives) that __________ _______________________________ as well as those branches that __________________________. This is so we will become _________________________________. One method of pruning (or being made clean) is by receiving His ________________________. Now we can put the pieces together: first, there is the love of God which chooses us and calls us and justifies us and guarantees for us a share in the glory of God. Then, there is the work of the Holy Spirit that pours the love of God into our hearts so that we recognize it and cherish it. Then, out of this deep experience of the love of God grows an unshakable hope even in the midst of suffering. And finally, in this hope we rejoice. a) The Greek word translated “hospitality” is made up of what words? (b) In the ministry, how can we demonstrate our concern for foreigners? encourages: Or “exhorts.” The Greek word pa·ra·ka·leʹo literally means “to call to one’s side.” It is broad in meaning and may convey the idea “to encourage” ( Ac 11:23; 14:22; 15:32; 1Th 5:11; Heb 10:25); “to comfort” ( 2Co 1:4; 2:7; 7:6; 2Th 2:17); and in some contexts “to urge strongly; to exhort” ( Ac 2:40; Ro 15:30; 1Co 1:10; Php 4:2; 1Th 5:14; 2Ti 4:2; Tit 1:9, ftn.). The close relationship between exhortation, comfort, and encouragement would indicate that a Christian should never exhort someone in a harsh or unkind way.

It is very difficult to put emotional experiences into words. But let me try to at least point in the right direction with three contrasts — three things that joy is not and three things that joy is. A world of difference exists between condemnation and conviction. Satan's condemnation nags and gnaws. There is no relief from it, no matter which way we turn. The Spirit, on the other hand, convicts us in the small quiet voice of God that leads to repentance, forgiveness, and cleansing. Spiritually, your prayer language is your native tongue, and you should pray in it as often as possible. You will be blessed, refreshed and edified each time you do.

God blesses those who bless Israel. Pray for nations to bless Israel, not try to destroy her. Pray that any “foreign money” from other nations or any other source will be stopped from being used against Israel.

What makes something spiritual is that it is produced under the special influences of the Spirit of God, and has the character of the Spirit of God. So when we say Christian joy is spiritual, not natural, we mean that it is produced by the Spirit of God and is the kind of joy that God has. Be industrious: Or “Be diligent.” The Greek spou·deʹ used here literally means “swiftness of movement or action; haste; speed.” ( Lu 1:39) However, in many contexts, it denotes an “earnest commitment in discharging an obligation; eagerness; earnestness; willingness; zeal.” This Greek word appears at Ro 12:8 in the expression “let him do it diligently.” It is rendered “industriousness” at Heb 6:11 and “earnest effort” at 2Pe 1:5. The related verb spou·daʹzo has been rendered “be . . . diligent” ( 2Pe 1:10) and “do your utmost” ( 2Ti 2:15; 4:9, 21; 2Pe 3:14). Just as proper food and training are essential to normal physical growth, so are their spiritual counterparts necessary for us to grow spiritually. Without spiritual food and training we become spiritually "stunted" as were the Corinthian Christians Paul reprimanded. This simply leaves us now with the question: Does this tree bear fruit? The answer of the New Testament is a resounding Yes! And we are going to look at four of these fruits of hope.

Origin of aglow

Today we begin to answer the last question in our series of messages on Christian hope. Until now we have asked four questions: Strong's 3588: The, the definite article. Including the feminine he, and the neuter to in all their inflections; the definite article; the. Read Romans 12:15 . Paul’s counsel in this verse can be summed up in two words: Show empathy. We need to learn to understand and even share another person’s feelings, whether joy or sadness. If we are aglow with the spirit, our feelings of shared joy or compassion will be evident. When 70 disciples of Christ returned joyfully from a preaching campaign and related the good results of their work, Jesus himself “became overjoyed in the holy spirit.” ( Luke 10:17-21) He shared their joy. On the other hand, Jesus ‘wept with people who were weeping’ when his friend Lazarus died.— John 11:32-35. The baptism in the Holy Spirit equips us for the spiritual warfare of this present age. With this baptism, Jesus' other gifts are available too. If you obey My commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in His love. I have told you this so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."

In verse 2 Paul says that he does the very thing that he commands in Romans 12:12: he rejoices in hope, specifically, hope in the glory of God. This outpouring of the Holy Spirit that began at Pentecost is continuing all over the world today. Men, women, and children alike are being baptized in the Holy Spirit by Jesus. All Christians receive the Holy Spirit at salvation, but to become effective Christians they need to also receive the empowering of the Holy Spirit.

That same earnestness should be evident, states Paul, in the way overseers serve as teachers and carry out “a ministry.” The context seems to indicate that Paul here refers to “a ministry” carried out within the congregation, or the “one body.” ( Rom. 12:4, 5) That ministry is similar to the one mentioned at Acts 6:4, where the apostles declare: “We shall devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” What does such a ministry involve? Christian elders use their gifts to build up the members of the congregation. They show themselves to “be at this ministry” when they earnestly provide guidance and instruction to the congregation from God’s Word by their prayerful study, research, teaching, and shepherding. Overseers should use their gifts conscientiously and care for the sheep “with cheerfulness.”— Rom. 12:7, 8; 1 Pet. 5:1-3.
