Note: in your own birth chart, the rulers of your houses are determined by the signs that fall on the cusps of your houses. However, the natural rulers, listed here, give a subtle influence. Table of Natural Ruling Planets of Each House House The 8th house is a house that rules over both life and death, sex, change, mystery and the occult The eighth house likewise rules other individuals' property and holdings, such as inheritance. Sixth House: Work environment and your attitude towards work. What kind of work environment do you need? What type of worker are you? This house also shows minor ailments and preventive aspects of health and illnesses which could lead to major health hazards if not corrected earlier on. All joint finances and properties, money that we do not earn through occupation (i.e. legacies, loans, inheritance, scholarships, income tax, etc.), insurance, monetary gifts, dealing with others' finances, dead-end projects, second "health house", sex-related problems.

Each captain chooses its players. Sun drafts Jupiter, then Saturn. Moon chooses Venus, then Mars. And Mercury? He gets to referee. It’s drawn from the point of view of someone standing in the northern hemisphere facing south toward the Sun. Where the Sun rises in the East is on the left, and where it sets in the West is on the right. North is behind you. The 12 Houses give material forms to the planets’ expression. Each House represents a different area of life – from you to others in your life, your reputation to family. The HOUSES 1 to 6 represent the effects produced by our own efforts (i.e. our "stimulus"), whereas the HOUSES 7 to 12 indicate the "response" from others, and those areas of our lives which are dependent on the outside world. If you're aiming to drink too much, spend too much, shag too much, and regret nothing, welcome home. This is just your kind of place. While health is sometimes attributed to the 6th, vitality in itself is better understood through the 1st House and its ruler, hence the Ascendant's role as the place of 'Life and Vital spirit of men,' according to the ancient Astrologer Firmicus Maternus. Technically, the 6th House does not connect to the Ascendant except by quincunx, a 150-degree aspect also known as 'aversion'; taken further, the nature of the 6th House is averse to the health of the person and more clearly represents the absence of vitality than its presence.

House themes: siblings, friends that feel like siblings, family members outside of the nuclear unit, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, one's community or culture, the neighborhood or local vicinity, short-distance travel, our daily commute, transportation, mundane knowledge, lower education (everything up to University), writing, communication, language, contracts, telephones, daily media (newspapers, magazines), rituals. It’s important to enter the city name only or the first several letters of the city in the Birth City field, not the country or state/province/region. For example, if you were born in Fuzhou, Fujian, China, you should enter “fuzhou” or similar and not “fujian” or “china.” It’s better not to overtype – for best results, type in the CITY name and scroll through the list for the correct city. Seventh House: The cusp of the sixth and seventh houses is known as the descendant. This house represents both business and romantic relationships that are secured through contract (e.g., marriage). The seventh house also illuminates your ‘open enemies’, such as competitors. Since relationships are a key indicator of longevity and health, this portion of your chart holds weight when it comes to partnering in ways that promote your best self. The most important houses are the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses. These are called the " angular houses" because their cusps coincide with the 4 special angles: ascendant, I.C., descendant, and M.C.. Planets in the angular houses will influence you the most. 1st Astrological House This astrology chart also contains twelve houses, and each of the ten planets is located in one of these houses. The 12 houses in the birth chart are also mathematically calculated according to your exact time, location and date of birth. Each house helps to decipher the area of your life that you experience the energy of each particular planet.

Bonus: if you have your natal Mars here, you may be better placed than most to gather up Mars' warring ways for the good, being that this is his traditional 'House of Joy.' I have known a great many Mars in the 6th folks to serve others with all manner of sharp instruments, one of Mars' significations: hairdressers, tattoo artists, surgeons, and acupuncturists, to name just a few. The houses also act as the 'homes' of the planets in our natal charts, and the presence or absence of planets within the houses can help describe where we seek or deny the expression of that planet's intentions. Some houses have a nature that is more or less conducive to certain pursuits, as we'll discover. The Medium Coeli (MC), also known as the Midheaven, is located at the intersection of the ecliptic and the prime meridian in the sky overhead. It’s the highest point in the sky planets can travel during the day. Of course, it’s not a game, unless we have two teams – let’s call them the Day Team and Night Team. (The traditional word for team is “sect.”)The Houses are unquestionably one of the more hotly debated elements of Astrological practice, and amongst professional Astrologers, the lines of division (pun intended) are quite strong. The ascendant is usually taken as the first house cusp, but there are some methods in which the first house cusp is calculated separately from the ascendant. However, it is recommended that the ascendant point (crossing of the ecliptic and the eastern horizon), even if not taken as the actual first house cusp, be at least marked on the horoscope as an important point. The horoscope (hora=hour, scope=picture) represents the planetary positions at the time of a person's birth.
