Step 4: Shave with the grain This is my review for the new Wilkinson Sword TTO razor released in 2019. I found it to be a very good razor for a few reasons. Mainly, performance, price and availability. It works well, it’s cheap and is readily available to buy on the high street in the UK. Safety razors can be great when you’re looking for a clean, close shave, avoiding irritation and ingrown hairs. Replacement blades for a safety razor are also very affordable, making a safety razor a great investment, which will save you money in the long run. Today, there are lots of options available for all your shaving needs, but a classic safety razor is still a great option for anyone looking for a good old-fashioned shave.
Straight Vs. Safety?
No problems to report in the first pass. It feels smooth enough and efficiency is perfectly acceptable. Although…despite how sharp the blades are, it’s really not dangerous. You just need to know how to shave with a safety razor. And once you’ve mastered it, enjoying a super-close shave time after time, you’ll wonder why you ever did it another way. Getting a great shave with a safety razor You buy a razor from the shop, use the razor, replace the razor’s blades when they start to blunt. That’s the traditional way of doing it anyway. Closed comb safety razors have a guard that creates space between the blade and your face – reducing risk of irritation. Shave with the grain: Use your fingers to pull your skin taut, then run your razor over it, going with the grain. This means you follow the direction of growth. With a safety razor, you’ll want to maintain an angle of about 45 degrees, and you won’t need to apply much pressure. Second pass across the grainand the only complaint I have is with the handle size. I am finding myself changing grip locations to get it comfortable in my hand. It’s not a major problem, more a combination of preference and me not being used to using a long handle. The shave is done in my usual two passes with a good result.
