About this deal

The Hydro 5 Sense Energize has our Ultra Glide® blades and a water-activated gel reservoir that smooths your shave for maximum comfort. In fact, every men’s razor in our Hydro range is designed around you, providing a tailored and reliable shave that suits your busy lifestyle while keeping your skin protected at every step. For those hard-to-reach spots there’s nothing quite like the Hydro 5 Groomer razor which combines expert trimming with gentle skincare. The old faithful Bic razor has been on the scene for a very long time. Simply put, it does what it says on the tin. Nothing more, nothing less. This particular version is a bit of a step up from the classic one-blade option, instead offering three blades for increased comfort and a more efficient shave. To get the closest shave possible, it’s a good idea to take a shower first, or at least place a hot towel on your face for a minute or two. This softens your facial hair up and opens your pores. It’s like rolling the red carpet out for your razor. Step 2: Lather up Next, you’ll need to generously apply some shaving cream or soap. Of course, for the full barber experience in your own home, you’ll want an old-school brush and shaving soap . This doesn’t just add vintage charm: a brush brings hairs off the surface of your skin and gets the soap or cream all around them, making the job of the razor much easier. Step 3: Straighten your skin out

First off, it’s not just about the razor itself. You’ll definitely want to get some good-quality shaving cream or soap to smooth the way for your razor. This is especially important when shaving with a safety razor as the lather protects your skin from the blade. As odd as it sounds, it’s really important to pull your skin a little tighter in areas with contours or folds (such as along your jawline and around your mouth). With your skin taut, the razor won’t have to negotiate bumps and dips, so you’re less likely to cut yourself. Step 4: Shave with the grain This is my review for the new Wilkinson Sword TTO razor released in 2019. I found it to be a very good razor for a few reasons. Mainly, performance, price and availability. It works well, it’s cheap and is readily available to buy on the high street in the UK. Safety razors can be great when you’re looking for a clean, close shave, avoiding irritation and ingrown hairs. Replacement blades for a safety razor are also very affordable, making a safety razor a great investment, which will save you money in the long run. Today, there are lots of options available for all your shaving needs, but a classic safety razor is still a great option for anyone looking for a good old-fashioned shave.

Straight Vs. Safety?

No problems to report in the first pass. It feels smooth enough and efficiency is perfectly acceptable. Although…despite how sharp the blades are, it’s really not dangerous. You just need to know how to shave with a safety razor. And once you’ve mastered it, enjoying a super-close shave time after time, you’ll wonder why you ever did it another way. We’ve been carefully crafting innovative men’s razor blades for longer than anyone at Wilkinson Sword can remember – and we’ve never sat still since we first took shaving by storm in 1884. Always searching for the perfect shave, we’re constantly thinking of new ways to design smoother, closer and most importantly safer men’s razors. Fans of that Scandi minimalist aesthetic will love the clean, uncluttered styling of Grüum’s shaving gear. The brand’s Oska razor features a nice shapely, ergonomic handle and comes in bold, eye-catching colours. There are a number of different subscription plans to choose from so you can choose exactly what you’ll get each month. It’s not just blades either. You can even have grooming goods like moisturiser and face wash delivered by subscriptions too.

The classic status of this razor doesn’t mean that it can’t be combined with one of the newer shaving inventions — shaving cream . In fact, shaving cream is a brilliant addition to any shave, including one that involves a safety razor. Getting a great shave with a safety razor You buy a razor from the shop, use the razor, replace the razor’s blades when they start to blunt. That’s the traditional way of doing it anyway. But these days there’s another option worth considering too. Opt for a safety razor with a closed comb. Closed comb safety razors have a guard that creates space between the blade and your face – reducing risk of irritation. Shave with the grain: Use your fingers to pull your skin taut, then run your razor over it, going with the grain. This means you follow the direction of growth. With a safety razor, you’ll want to maintain an angle of about 45 degrees, and you won’t need to apply much pressure. Second pass across the grainand the only complaint I have is with the handle size. I am finding myself changing grip locations to get it comfortable in my hand. It’s not a major problem, more a combination of preference and me not being used to using a long handle. The shave is done in my usual two passes with a good result. Handle length compared to a Muhle R41 Post Shave

If you have sensitive skin and are concerned about using a safety razor for the first time, there’s a few things to keep in mind when choosing the best safety razor for you:

The soap or cream is best applied with a brush – not just because it feels great and makes you look like a Hollywood tough guy, but also because it lifts hairs up and makes sure they’re completely covered. Prep your skin: Rinsing your face with plenty of nice warm water, or shaving after a hot shower is great for opening up your pores and softening hairs. This convenience gives subscription services the edge over traditional DIY blade buying for those who often find themselves pushed for time. Plus, it often ends up cheaper than purchasing directly from the shop.Perfectly reflecting the current trend for timeless, old-school style, they make for a clean, comfortable finish by keeping redness and irritation to a minimum. They also do good for the planet by reducing your consumption of single-use plastics and cost less in the long run. Do you ever get an urge to live life on the edge? Do you fancy running off to become a pirate on the high seas? Oooh…how about lion-taming? Or maybe you could start a new life as an international art thief?
