About this deal

My review: The 2300T is another popular air pistol made by Crosman. This pistol was actually designed for shooting clubs and organizations to teach beginners how to safely handle and shoot pistols. There isn’t anything fancy about it, but it’s accurate, easy to shoot, reliable, and has good range for a .177 CO2 powered pellet pistol.

Obviously, a .177 caliber pellet is not ideal for self-defense, but are they viable at all? I mean after all, there are true stories about people being killed after being shot in vital organs like the heart. The tube magazine is located just under the barrel and requires you to hold the spring-loaded follower open while you manually feed the pellets. The CO2 tank is also difficult to replace, and the plastic construction is flimsy. Overall, it’s still a great value, if only because it’s powerful and cheap. Pros Like several other options on our Best Air Pistols list, the Byrna SD is CO2-powered. But instead of firing BBs or pellets, the SD fires either kinetic or chemical projectiles at speeds that average 300fps - this powerful air pistol had an effective deterrent range of approximately 60 feet. Precision, innovation, performance – the three keywords that define the Weihrauch brand. The Weihrauch HW100 Bullpup is a powerful, impeccably crafted PCP air rifle designed for accurate pest control at ranges of up to 50 metres. Depending on how powerful your air pistol is, it may be able to fire a .177 caliber pellet at over 500 feet per second. Under normal circumstances, that’s not enough to kill a human being. That said, it’s important to take necessary safety precautions. The model reviewed here, the P17, is a less expensive version that is made in China, while the P3 is made in Germany. Both of these pistols work just fine for plinking, but I wouldn’t use them for any type of pest control.

The Umarex TDP 45 is a bit of an oddball. On the one hand, it’s very accurate and has low recoil. It also has a weaver rail under the barrel so you can mount a flashlight or laser. With those features, you’d think this was designed for experienced shooters. The Crosman 2250 XL is possibly the best budget air rifle for pest control (UK). Also known as the Ratcatcher, this .22 calibre CO2-powered rifle features a rifled steel barrel for precise shooting. It boasts a muzzle energy of 8ft/lbs, which is excellent for the price. Gas Ram pistols are essentially the same as spring pistols but use a non fatiguing piston system instead of a spring, sounds great right? Well, to my knowledge there are none close to the 6ft/lb limit that we are after so they are also out. Multi Stroke pistols suffer a similar fate with the majority of the models available being under powered with one exception. The Zoraki HP-01 has a variable power system which means that after 3 pumps the pistol will be powerful enough to be used for pest control. This means that having the pistol ready to shoot as by the time you have pumped the pistol up to full power, the rat or bird will likely be gone.Power: The maximum you can get is ~ 480 FPS with a regular CO2 pistol. Larger pistols shoot up to 700 FPS – those are your PCP, break-barrel and pump pistols - but they're often single loading and bulky. Hate to break it to you, but the "1000 FPS Air Pistol" is a myth - you need a rifle for that kind of power.

Roaches will try to outsmart you. They may nest between frame and cork of a bulletin board. Or live underneath a refrigerator and never touch the treated floor below (fortunately a good boric acid product or diatomaceous earth product is fine enough to adhere electrostatically to the bottom of nearly any surface). Sig Sauer P226. 450 FPS, Pellet, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine - 16. Sig Sauer P226 is made for training muscle memory for police and military personnel. The pistol looks extremely realistic but has major accuracy issues which make it a bad deal at the high price point. When it comes to self-defense, nothing can beat a real firearm. The thing is, you don't always have access to real firearms. CO2-powered air pistols shoot like toys next to Marauder, based on both power and accuracy. Let's Take A Closer LookPerhaps the most famous spring pistol is the XS26, one of the stalwarts of recent years that has continued to sell high numbers since its inception and has formed the basis of a lot of spring powered pistols that followed after it. Most notably was SMK’s own XS32 which not only upped the power slightly but improved the trigger system to make the gun more accurate and more reliable. The XS32 is equipped with fibre optic sights which is a plus as pests tend to be more active in low light, and is also surprisingly lightweight which not only reduces fatigue but also makes aiming easier, important when aiming for a small vital area. The HW45 is a beautiful piece of construction Below is a short breakdown of air pistol types, and the differences between shooting BBs and Pellets. Air Pistol Types Spring Pistols This incredible carbine PCP air rifle provides hunters with an unparalleled degree of control and precision. It features a fully adjustable cheek piece and butt pad, two-stage adjustable trigger, ultra-smooth side lever action and a match grade Lothar Walther barrel. 5. BSA R12 CLX Pro Super Carbine
