The Supra nib unit is a bigger version of the convenient screw-in/screw-out nib unit found on all Kaweco pens above the basic range. My Supra had a fine nib, which was extremely smooth with good ink flow. The combination of large nib and weighty pen made the Supra a really fun writer. Excellent nibs, the tiny size and sturdy metal construction combine to make these Liliputs the best portable fountain pen I’ve ever used. I’d love to have one to carry around. If I were at my desk I probably wouldn’t choose the Liliput to draft a long document; it’s a little thin for extended writing, for me. But horses for courses. Unlike the other pens in the Liliput range, the Liliput Fireblue pen's barrel and cap are made of blued stainless steel. This process of blueing is done by hand and through the action of different temperatures, the individual pen receives a varied colouring of shimmering bluish and brownish colour nuances. Resulting in an entirely unique pen that can be further changed over time through use. Making for a pen that is entirely unique. The blued steel barrel and cap is further complimented through the use of a gold Kaweco logo and detailing on the top of the pens screw-on cap. Seriously........you think that a doom map with fireblu is pretty? Now see the whole world covered in FIREBLU and tell me if it's pretty......heh.

This is the interesting part of the story... blue coloring by annealing is well known to all the watch aficionados out there. Parts of the movement or the hands of the watch are blued by heating. Different temperatures resulting in different colors of the workpiece. And exactly this is how it works with the Liliput: In the process of annealing heat is applied for each Fireblue piece individually by manual labor. In color matching caps, bodies and sections are put together afterwards so every single Liliput Fireblue is one of a kind. On the flip-side, of course, I'm sure that people who are happy with coding are going to do some truly amazing things with zscript. My Stainless Steel Liliput came with a medium nib and the Fireblue with an extra-fine, both of which were good writers. Liliput nib units are the same as those on the AL-Sport, AC-Sport and Dia2 line, and can be easily unscrewed and interchanged with the nib units of any of those pens. Not with the larger Supra, of course. A Beginner’s Guide to Fountain Pen Inks: What Inks to Buy? What Inks to Avoid? To Clean or Not to Clean? The TenRules. Because hands come in so many sizes and preferences vary so widely, I can see the Supra being an attractive option to a wider audience. Perhaps a couple sharing the pen? A growing child? Someone who likes both very long and very short pens? I can’t think of many situations where it would be necessary. Rather, the Supra is an impressive looking pen that can transform into several different pens. How to tell if a pen is wet or dry. How to remedy with out doing things to the pen (using dry or wet inks). I am not sure if anyone has had one of these pens long enough to know one way or the other, or if someone with experience with annealed metal can tell us, but I, too, am curious about this. After all, if it does fade, the price premium for this finish is hardly worth it.....

Kaweco LILIPUT Ball Fireblue with Cap I Retractable Ballpoint

The cap threads are good, and take a 3.5 turns to remove, tolerable because they spin freely. They too are a little sharp, and the section (while perhaps broader than that on the Sport) is not long enough to keep your fingers clear of them.

The finishing and construction overall feels great, a precision product. All the sections fit together well, seamless joins are really seamless, weight and balance are good (if you like metal pens). Branding is minimal — just a laser-etched logo in the domed steel of the pen end, and a little more round the barrel.

Kaweco Liliput Fountain Pen - Fireblue | Pure Pens

We use a state of the art laser engraving machine which gently etches away the top layer of the pen to reveal the base metal underneath. Re the question of a converter in a Liliput, even if you could find one that fitted, I think it would hold so little ink as to not be worth bothering (I have two, one brass and one copper). Finally, the pen can be used without the middle section, unposted. This gives a pen that is just 9.5 cm (3.75 inches) long and weighs 31 g (1.1 ounces). This was by far my least favorite setup.Being the one who mostly stays outside of the community, I feel really confused now. FIREBLU is ugly? Seriously? It is one of my favorite textures! Sorry...Even anodizing (as the blue of the Karas Kustoms "Ink" is done) will wear away with use. Its quite frustrating because I love that bright blue color of the Karas Kustoms pens, but I refuse to buy the pen because I know what anodized aluminum looks like after hard wear. Ugly, IMO.
