About this deal

But, there was always one little… thing that seems to be overlooked in the conversation of evergreen headphones, more likely than not due to its extremely low price point. The venerable KSC75, its predecessor being the far less popular KSC35 which was introduced by Koss in 1995. The KSC75 debuted in 2005 as the KSC35’s cheaper alternative and has since remained as a cornerstone of every audiophile’s “newbie recommendation list”. Do note that unit variation may potentially be a thing here, some reviewers have gotten units that have quite a bit more treble than what I listened to.) The cable length has also been shortened from a studio-friendly 10 feet to a tighter 6 feet. Total weight is 9.2 ounces, and these babies have some serious clamping force. That’s alleviated by the soft padding, making it easy to wear the 6XX for long listening sessions, although your hair will get appropriately disheveled by those mondo earpieces. Sound

My usual thanks to all my current supporters and shoutouts to my big money boys: Initial impressions, measurements, and non-audio opinions of this month’s flavour: Geek Wold’s GK10.As a result, it might not give the sound you want if you connect it with your phone. It will be good to use with computers, however, you will still need an app for that so that you can get the exact sound you need. I’m quoting this as proof that your problem with me seems to be more personal than objective, else you wouldn’t have mentioned this irrelevant point at all. It’s hard to nail down the right classification for these headphones because they’re technically all of the above. Yes, the HD8XX comes off as fairly warm due to the contrast between the lower and upper mids; yes, the HD8XX is technically “V”-shaped due to its mids being less emphasised than its bass and treble; and yes, all of these characterisations basically revolve around a distinct centre-midrange “hole”. Put mine in a Porto Pro headset and installed some Yaxi pads. Used a bunch EQ presets, that all kind of sound the same (SoundSource on the Mac). Used and Schiit IEMagni desktop rig.

Drop has claimed the HD8XX to be (or at least, aims to be) the “logical conclusion of the HD800 series”, but this seems more like a spit in the face to its legacy. All in all , despite of the cheap price . 6xx is at most a mediocre headphones. I would not recommend this at all . Let’s not insult the KSC75 by saying that it’s simply good for the price… because it’s far more than that. It basically has a monopoly at its asking price, and could still give modern budget headphones a run for their money 15 years after its release (more if you count the KSC35).And if we talk about the bass sound, it’s so rigid and warm, and the midrange sounds also dip close to the glowing colors of analog tape saturation. So, if you are okay with these facts, then you should go for this headphone as the sound quality itself is a lot for the headphone. Final Words

A professional musician, songwriter, record producer and audio engineer who likes to indulge in everything music - be it guitars, amps, studio or audiophile gear. Being an audio engineer and fascinated by audio technology, he is on an adventure of finding the most interesting products with the best sound, tech and value for money. I bought HD 6xx in Nov 2016. Before I got this, I already got ATH AD1000x, ATH M50x, and Massdrop X AKG K7xx. So I will compare HD 6xx to these three headphones.INTRODUCTION For non-audio opinions, please refer to my unboxing post. Now I could give you a long-winded rundown of the Table of Contents Introduction Sennheiser has been busy with the gaming market, comprising of eleven models split between the GSP and I wouldn’t have any second thoughts of getting rid of the 660s, but the 600 and 6xx… I don’t ever want to part with either. A truly legendary headphone series for a reason. I can absolutely see why some may prefer the HD600 over the HD6xx, and I love them both. However, I could absolutely do without the HD660s. I've never truly loved them, but hearing the other two made me disappointed in the HD660s even more. I don't regret buying them, and they served me very well, but... I paid at least double for them and the return on investment just isn't there. Live and learn!

The only difference is I was less negative overall as with some basic EQ and you really only need to EQ the giant hole, it’s pretty darn good. The bloom isn’t as much of an issue once the hole is fixed, as it’s made worse by the contrast of the hole. What I’ve said in my initial impressions still hold true now; yes, the changes made to the HD8XX does cut the treble peakiness of the HD800/S significantly, but introduces a slew of other even more troubling issues that completely overshadow that fix. Again, seems analogous to cutting off an entire limb in response to being asked to lose weight. The Music style I usually listen are classical music, Japanese Pop and female singers, such as Beyonce and Celine Dion. After listening to one slow ambient song, that usually felt ominous and intense as the plodding bass increased in energy feel pleasant and mild, that sealed the fate of the HD6xx as being labeled unengaging by me.Initial impressions, measurements, and non-audio opinions of FiiO’s newest update to their popular FH5 IEM: the FH5s. In this headphone, the little unevenness there is in high-frequency sounds causes mostly by similar sounds and cymbals, with which one will get used to soon. The transients are well defined and crisp, and their decay into ambiance happens naturally. To me, the bass sounded like wet cardboard, flabby, dense and wet. I enjoyed this sound personally though I wouldn't call it the most correct to me. There is not enough sub bass. So can anyone else corroborate or have I finally lost it? Surely I'm not the only one. And I imagine this isn't a market-wide issue. even Crin's only mentioned it on that.
