About this deal

There were some very timely lessons in this story. Sometimes we shut other people out when we are dealing with grief and personal struggles. I can relate to that entirely and this book highlights how essential it is to pull people closer, not push them away.

I really liked this book, the emotional journey of the MC and the wholesome ending were so good to read 😭I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Eve had two tragic things happen to her three years ago around Christmas time and since then has invested all her time and energy into starting her own business, freezing our her husband and best friend. Right before the opening of her shop her best friend hosts a huge party at a spectacular mansion where Eve and her beloved Gran had gone before. Eve doesn’t want to go because she needs to finish up the details on her shop’s opening but after a row with her husband, agrees to go but brings her assistant a long. Once she is there Eve finds herself somehow waking up on Christmas morning time and time again in a loop but each time in someone else’s body. She starts to see just how far she has fallen away from what really matters in life. Haunting, magical and sparkling with Christmas spirit, One Christmas Morning is a festive love story with a difference. A clever and cathartic novel about healing, grief, facing up to ourselves and letting go, it tugged on my heartstrings and took me through every emotion possible. A warm and powerful debut” - Holly Miller, The Sight of You The writing style is engaging, capturing the essence of the holiday season and evoking emotions in the readers. The author's descriptions create a vivid and immersive world that draws readers into Eva's journey of self-reflection and redemption.

This women’s fiction holiday read is truly a special book filled with many timely lessons, such as the importance of finding a work/ life balance, letting people in versus shutting those closest to you out, and figuring out what’s most important in life. It definitely took me a while to like the main character, but as the story developed, I started to see the world from her POV and understand and emphasize with her more. By the end, I felt uplifted and fulfilled as the story really came full circle. Also, while I know this is a small detail and not so important, I do wish we knew about more about Eva’s business and the shop she was opening. All the references were vague, yet it was such a big part of her life! This was a really good story, with a sliding door take and a Christmas Carol vibe. This romance will make you question your life choices, much the same as the character does, at times it was rather sad and quite emotional. With a complex storyline, the plot is slowly revealed as Eva sees herself through the guests at the Christmas party's eyes. Of course, by its very nature, the book is quite predictable. ( Though there was one incident at the end that I did not see coming.) So this book is not about the destination but about the journey. And the journey is handled decently. One Christmas Morning is the debut novel by Rachel Greenlaw. It follows the story of overworked, overwrought Eva, who is desperately trying to get her 'baby,' a luxury homewares shop, launched just after Christmas. The only problem is .. well, everything else. Because she's been working all the hours God sends, all her relationships including her marriage, are beginning to deteriorate around her. Her husband James has demanded that she take some time off over Christmas to spend away with their best friends at an old house in Cornwall Eva used to visit as a child with her grandmother. My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.A tiny niggle: There are four references made to a Coldplay song, without ever mentioning which song it was. Not all of us are Coldplay fans, nor do we know all Coldplay songs, nor can we be expected to Google Coldplay hits to figure out the song. Please, dear author, specify the song title at least once in the story if it has a key role in the narrative.

Greenlaw, whose first adult novel One Christmas Morning will be published by HQ in 2023, said: “Publishing stories in the YA space has been a long-held dream. Megan and the rest of the team have already been incredible, and I can’t wait to bring a whole trilogy of romantic fantasy stories inspired by my island home to readers.”I have read and loved the other groundhog type stories; so one with Christmas in the title had me full of anticipation of something good!

Eva has been grieving for the past three years. Deep in get own grief, she keeps pushing her loved ones away. She is not looking forward to Christmas, and her husband asks her to go to a party with him, thinking it will be good for her to get out and have some joy. Eva has a hard time with Christmas, due to the tragic events of a Christmas a few years ago. She reluctantly goes with her husband James to see friends one Christmas, and her friend's announcement of a baby on the way overwhelms her. The story then turns into a kind of modern take on A Christmas Carol, where Eva, guided by the spirit of her beloved (but now dead) Gran, must live Christmas Day in the lives of those around her she has chosen to ignore. Will she see the error of her ways and be able to fix all that is nearing destruction?? Eva is about to open her new store which she has been preparing for the past three years. She is hopeful her work will help bury a heartbreak from one Christmas.Eva is having Christmas, again and again. On the plus side lots of lovely meals and no calories. On the downside she seems to be condemned to waking up as a different guest of the Cornwall house party each Christmas morning until she can work out just what has gone wrong with her life. Poignant, clever, exceptional – with a light sprinkling of Christmas magic. Loved it.’ Milly Johnson, Together, Again At first I thought it was because I wasn't in the mood for a Christmas story several months early, until I realize this doesn't feel fun and festive like Holiday Fiction should feel. James and Eva met, fell in love and got married ten years ago and they planned their lives to include children until three years ago when everything changed one Christmas and since then things just haven’t been right between them. The characters in "One Christmas Morning" are well-drawn and relatable. Eva's transformation throughout the story is believable and touching, and the supporting cast adds depth and nuance to the narrative. The relationships between the characters are explored with care, emphasizing the strength found in friendship and the significance of second chances.
