During this opening there is already a lovely sharp herbal note in the background, almost like petitgrain or thyme. Unfortunately, if you watch Fragrance Room's videos where women react to this, nearly all of them hate this fragrance and rate it below 4/10. As this has been my introduction into the range, I can safely say that its performance hasn’t made me want to avoid the rest (Vintage is something I’ve been eyeing next), so a thumbs up from me.The initial spray is glorious with this one, and as it dries down the lingering scent trail is one to remember too.

If this is what the "flagship" of the John Varvatos brand looked like, it is not surprising to me that it is no longer with us. Artisan Pure zaps you with Italian citrus - I get mostly a deep, cloved orange that never leaves - and then adds woods that get smooth and creamy by the end. Originality: I have yet to come across a summer cologne that is as complex as Artisan Pure, especially in an EdT – it lingers, lasts, and leaves a great impression! This one is apparently one of the better performing of the John Varvatos range, I’ve not tried any of the others but can say that longevity and projection on this one seems to be average.
