Interestingly enough, the Spot mode seems to have a warmer colour temperature (albeit not by much) – this could be due to the TIR reflecting light differently. It could also be due to different binned emitters being used, but I don’t think this is likely when Nitecore runs their ship as tightly as they do. CRI is <70 as expected, and all on the green side of the BBL. Much to the amusement of my wife, I proceeded to walk around the house fiddling with the Nitecore HC68 in all manners of practicality and silliness. I appreciated the ultra-low setting that kept me from losing all of my night-adjusted vision. The two-level red LED is fantastic for negotiating the dark with even less impact on night vision. The Nitecore HC68 is a lightweight very powerfulfocusable headlamp. It emits a max brightness of 2000 lumen white light that reaches up to 202meters. You can adjust the beam profile between a focused spotlight and a wide floodlight beam. Its 150° true vision wide-angle flood beam covers your entire field of vision, and the 180° vertical pivot provides you the ultimate control. Ideal headlamp for camping, running, trekking, biking, or any professional work. Note that these are initial/maximum figures – as the battery gets closer to full, the charge rate will slow down.

Install the cell with the button to the inside of the light. (This is the typical orientation for flashlight cells.) Each time we activate the TURBO the duration is 60 seconds. The light intensity varies according to the temperature and the residual charge. The ability to combine both beams to a level that fit your needs is what makes the HC68 a special headlamp. An interesting note – the same power is being delivered for both flood and spot emitters, and is changed smoothly – almost no change in current was detected when ramping between flood and spot.Replacing competing brand on SAR helmet. Hands down this is the best lamp I've had over the last 25 years Nitecore HC68 обладнаний двома однаковими світлодіодами різної потужності, що дозволить в результаті користувачеві проводити регулювання ближнього та далекого світла. The HC68 has built-in charging that is concealed behind the threads at the power button end. A note on this though – it requires 9 full turns to unscrew the cap to its limits, and the first few times you do this, it may be quite tough. This loosens up over time, however. The runtime tests were done in a closed environment with about 20° C, using the fully charged 3500 mAh 18650 battery supplied. After the tests the battery showed 2.7V.

Red flashing, Beacon, and SOS modes are available by using the Aux modes (double press power button from off), then cycling upwards (Plus button). If you want to use unprotected cells, that’s doable – I tested this light with a Sony VTC6 and it worked fine. Keep in mind though, the light itself doesn’t have LVP, so you could very well kill a cell by doing so. I compare everything to the KillzoneFlashlights.com 219b BLF-348 because it’s inexpensive and has the best tint! Conclusion What I like HC68 is equipped with 4 different LEDs; 2 main white light LEDs (Luminus SST-40-W) and 2 auxiliary red light LEDs. The Nitecore HC68 headlamp accepts rechargeable 18650 batteries (except for flat-top cells), but can accept a pair of CR123 batteries if needed.

Easy to Use and Comfortable to Wear

Lux Meter: For lumen readings and runtimes, an Adafruit TSL2591 connected to a Raspberry Pi running Ubuntu, using RuTiTe by bmengineer in a custom sphere. A UNI-T UT383S is used for candela readings. Note: The measurements and data collected, having been made with instruments and environmental conditions different from those carried out by the parent company, can be dissimilar. Here’s a review of the new HC68 headlamp by Nitecore. This dual-emitter headlamp with red secondary boasts USB-C charging. Read on for more! In the centre of the main LEDs there are two red auxiliary LEDs that offers a constant red output with high/low setting and a red flashing setting. Red light preserves your night vision and is good for wildlife observation, astronomy and night photography.
