i despised the stepmother and stepsisters so much that i had to put the book down multiple times and tell myself that they're supposed to be vile and annoying but like. Until one day, she gets a letter sending her (and unfortunately her family) to a ball that changes everything. Overall this was a great read and I think I’ve found an Author whose other books I must really look into as this book is the second in a series of retellings. She's waiting the last days to go by and she could finally be free, but something doesn't go as planned.

I don't know if I should dive into the next book of this series or stop what I'm doing and watch some Disney movies. Her writing is that kind that pulls you in with the first line you read and lets you out only after you are broken, satisfied and a mess! As if they weren\'t enough to deal with, a chance encounter with the arrogant Prince Franco leaves her humiliated and in a fiery rage. Adding to the confession, I was actually very influenced by my ACOTAR thoughts as I slid into this book. Yesterday I finished one book and I opened this one thinking that I'll just read a few lines, get a little into the story and go to bed at approximately 10:30pm.But when her stepmother sets her eye on Franco, the Lunar prince, and wants to use the Social Season as a means to marry off her eldest daughter, Imogen, Ember finds herself even more entangled in her stepmother's schemes. their story was sweet and of course it had its well-known tropes such as enemies to lovers, arranged marriage, etc. This was a fresh and very satisfying Cinderella story complete with hot fae, magical twists and a beautiful love story.
