Description

I have a three year old that always picks up this book for me to read to him, and he goes “my body, what I say goes”!

I help parents to talk about sex (with less cringe and more confidence) and empower their child to make smart sexual decisions. As he’s young, I reworded parts and used examples but it was really helpful in bringing to light a tricky topic.Starts with exploring the emotions and feeling and understanding the body signs of feeling uncomfortable and then on to safe ad usafe feeling.

demonstrates understanding one's body, their personal boundaries, and how important consent is to a child.

ISBN: 9781925089264 Author: Sanders, Jayneen Publisher: Educate2empower Publishing Publication Date: 1st July 2016 Imprint: Educate2empower Publishing Cover: Paperback Dewey: 362. It is a useful book that will help parents to start teaching their child the principles of body safety. This book is all about empowering and teaching children about personal body safety, feelings, safe and unsafe touch, private parts, consent, and respectful relationships. This book not only encourages healthy communication between you and your child (there’s little question for you to ask them throughout the book) it provides them with the most important tools to set them up for life. There are a couple of things I would change, like including nipples in the discussion of private parts and using more inclusive language.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. It aims to educate using a good choice of words can help parents whilst teaching their children about their "private parts" and can be used as a guide and a fun learning/reading experience. This book can help us teach them and help them to learn consent and what touch is safe and what is not okay. These skills empower children, and go a long way in keeping them safe from abuse – ensuring they grow up as assertive and confident teenagers and adults. My 7 year old and I had a lot of discussions about the safety network and being uncomfortable that were bridged using this book. Approximately 20% of girls, and 8% of boys will experience sexual abuse before their 18th birthday (Pereda, et al, 2009). It's imperative to teach our children how to look after themselves when we aren't around and this book explains things in a way they can grasp. This comprehensive, empowering and age-appropriate children’s book will teach children about respect, consent and body boundaries.

This book provides everything a child needs to know to help keep them safe from inappropriate touch. The book mentions that boys usually have a penis, testicles, and a bottom, but I personally prefer to include nipples too, as they are part of the body and can be important to discuss as kids grow older. There are also discussion questions within the storyline, but other questions to discuss after reading the book.I wish there were a better way of talking about the difference between secrets and information that’s simply private. More importantly, Jay is a mother of three teenage girls and has been a school councillor at her local primary school for over seven years. So, if you’re looking for a book that can help you have important conversations with your kids about love, sex, relationships, and growing up, I highly recommend My Body, What I Say Goes by Janine Sanders. I think I would also include that "private parts" or "no-touch parts" can be anywhere on your body that makes you feel uncomfortable or that you don't want anyone to touch. Jay is a mother of three daughters and was a school councillor at her local school for over seven years.
