When the ninja set out for the Island of Darkness in the Destiny's Bounty, the Ultra Dragon was left behind to protect Ninjago City. Dareth was given command over him in the ninja's absence. It appears the Ultra Dragon's departure was not known to the public, as implied by Brad Tudabone's suggestion to use the dragon as transportation in " The Surge". At some point in time, Iron Baron and his hunters captured and killed the Ultra Dragon, and used its skulls and bones as decoration for his throne. It’s an odd set really, it’s billed as being the largest NINJAGO dragon but it doesn’t feel as such. Instead, the build feels a little underwhelming. That’s not saying it’s a bad set, the build experience simply feels just a little plain. Despite that, it does have a few fun sections, the dragon heads are great and I like that they aren’t just copied and pasted for each one. Plus the wings are a clever mechanism, especially with the combination of elements used to make them work. When the ninja journeyed to the Dark Island, the Ultra Dragon remained in Ninjago to protect the citizens. Following this, the dragon was present in Ninjago City during Lloyd's climactic battle with the Overlord. A few Golden Dragons fly around Lloyd's head after he slams into a pillar in Garmadon's monastery in " The Art of the Silent Fist," which is a play on the common animation trope often involving birds or stars circling around a character's head to indicate a temporary head injury.
